Welcome back to the Santa Clara Meditation blog! π±
The cafeteria at the Ma-eum Su-ryun Main Center has undergone an amazing transformation!
Let me introduce you to the newly remodeled look of the cafeteria and its menus filled with care. I would also like to highlight the sincere dedication of the cafeteria staff, who prepare everything with the heartfelt desire to “provide the absolute best hospitality” to everyone who visits. ποΈ
πΏ 1. Remodeling the Ma-eum Su-ryun Main Center Cafeteria
The Ma-eum Su-ryun Main Center is a place where intensive meditation takes place, providing both room and board. After the COVID-19 pandemic began, meditation sessions were transitioned online, which allowed us to safely proceed with remodeling during that time.
- Upgraded Facilities: The ceilings, walls, dining tables, chairs, and HVAC systems were upgraded to the latest facilities, along with thorough safety checks and facility improvements.
- Starlight Illumination: The lighting on the ceiling makes it look as though starlight is falling gently onto the tables.
- Gallery-Style Walls: The walls feature gallery-style lighting and showcase beautiful, healing photographs that bring peace just by looking at them.
π₯ 2. The Menu of the Ma-eum Su-ryun Main Center Cafeteria

The food is always exceptionally neat and delicious because it is prepared with clean, high-quality ingredients and a heart that truly cares for people.
- Special Meals: Occasionally, special dishes make an appearance! Recently, we had salmon flakes, and carrot soup was served as a snack.
- Seasonal Treats: In the summer, watermelon juice and salads are provided as snacks, and sometimes freshly baked, naturally fermented bread is served.
- Detox Juices: As the weather started getting chilly, a warm detox juice made from seven different vegetables, including beets and tomatoes, was offered. Lately, they have been serving a delicious detox juice made of carrots, celery, ginger, and onions.
It is so clean and prepared with such immense care that it is truly touching. The staff says they are always researching and experimenting so they never lose their core desire to offer the best possible hospitality to those who come to meditate. π»
π€ 3. The People of the Ma-eum Su-ryun Main Center Cafeteria
There are so many precious people to be thankful for, working diligently in every unseen corner:
- The cafeteria staff who wake up the earliest to start cooking the rice and stay the latest to wash dishes and clean up.
- The team that researches daily to develop even better meals.
- The individuals who meticulously trim and wash the fresh, high-quality ingredients.
- The maintenance team that looks after the facilities so everyone can dine in a pleasant and safe environment.
On the day they were making the salmon flakes, word got out that 3,000 labor-intensive fried tofu flakes needed to be made. Upon hearing this, volunteers immediately rolled up their sleeves and ran over to help! β¨
π 4. Wrapping Up a Day at the Cafeteria
Once the tables are fully prepped, the meditators come in to eat. Wearing masks, refraining from conversation while eating to prevent droplets, and sanitizing hands have all become a very familiar daily routine. Sometimes, people even measure their blood pressure and pulse while waiting in line.
- Dishwashing: After dinner at the Main Center concludes, a primary wash is done at the sink, followed by a secondary wash in the dishwasher. By the next morning, piping hot, sterilized trays and utensils are ready to greet everyone.
- Cleaning: While the dishes are being washed, the cleaning team puts all the chairs up and polishes the floor until it shines.
- A New Day: The next morning, the chairs are brought back down onto the fully dried floor, and a new day begins.
Meditation becomes so much more joyful thanks to the hard work of the cafeteria staff who flawlessly carry out this daily routine without skipping a single day.
A cafeteria and neat meals created by people who meditateβit truly is the absolute best! πΏ
