📖 Introduction
Do you ever feel like your mind is running a marathon you didn’t sign up for? For many of us, constant mental chatter and endless distracting thoughts make it difficult to focus, connect with others, or even understand ourselves. These endless thoughts are often fueled by a false ego—a mind built upon our own desires, past experiences, and illusions. But what happens when you learn how to turn down the volume of that mental noise and let go of the ego?
In this post, two practitioners share their profound realizations through mind subtraction meditation. An 18-year-old describes how disconnecting from technology and deeply reflecting on his life helped him decrease his distracting thoughts by nearly half, transforming the way he treats his parents and the people around him. Meanwhile, a 52-year-old shares a deep philosophical insight into how letting go of the false human ego is the ultimate key to achieving true self-reflection and humanity’s long-sought goal of coexistence.
Read their inspiring stories to discover how eliminating distracting thoughts and discarding the false ego can expand your consciousness and bring profound clarity to your life.
💬 Story 1: “My distracting thoughts decreased from 70% to about 40%”
By Oh Jun-young / Age 18 / Level 1
At the local center, I went 2-3 times a week, so I learned less. But coming here, I experienced living without a cell phone for a week, living alone without a single family member, and pushing past my own limits. Along with various memories, I felt a lot of meditation and enlightenment. My mind changed to wanting to alter the way I treat my parents, my passion for wanting to subtract grew, and my perspective and consciousness seem to have expanded.
I also met many different kinds of people. I didn’t know what to do with my useless distracting thoughts that kept popping up, but after learning how to deal with them and repeating the subtraction over and over, my distracting thoughts during conversations decreased from 70% to about 40%.
“My way of treating people brightened, and I started thinking of others before myself… Because I know that the pictures I keep taking are all fake, I do mind subtraction every time.”
By doing a lot of looking back on my mind, my life, and what I did in certain situations, I was able to know myself better. I am relieved that I can discard and fix things because I now know the reasons behind those situations.

💬 Story 2: “Why humanity’s goal of self-reflection and coexistence could not be achieved until now”
By James Jung / Age 52 / Level 1
I realized that the human ego is a false ego created by one’s own desires. Also, as I meditated according to the method of this meditation, I felt changes in my body and mind.
“I came to understand why humanity’s goal of self-reflection and coexistence could not be achieved until now. It is a good meditation method.”
