π Introduction
When was the last time you truly took a break from work and allowed yourself to rest? For many hardworking adults, years pass without a proper vacation. Between professional responsibilities, financial pressures, and the demands of everyday life, taking even a few days for ourselves can feel like an impossible luxury.
Sometimes, we become so accustomed to living with stress and mental exhaustion that we assume a short vacation is all we need to recover. We imagine spending a peaceful week away from work, relaxing our bodies, and temporarily escaping our responsibilities. But what happens when a break from everyday life becomes something far more meaningful than we expected?
What if the opportunity to rest could also become a turning point in how we understand ourselves and the world?
In this heartfelt meditation testimonial, a 53-year-old practitioner shares an unexpected experience of personal transformation. After spending years working without taking a full week of personal vacation, he decided to attend a meditation program, hoping to enjoy some comfortable rest while learning the practice. Instead, he encountered an intensive schedule and lectures that challenged his understanding of life.
Although the week was physically demanding, the systematic explanations and mind subtraction method helped him reconsider his accumulated thoughts and discover a new perspective. What began as a simple desire for rest became an experience he believed could mark a major turning point in his life.
Read his inspiring story to discover how stepping away from work, reflecting on your mind, and embracing a new approach to meditation can lead to unexpected personal growth.
π¬ Story: πΏ “Thinking of It as Resting With a Comfortable Mind for a Week”
By Oh Eui-geun / Age 53 / Level 1
When I first came to the Main Center, I came with the thought of practicing. Also, while working all these years, I had never personally taken a vacation to rest comfortably for more than a week, so my thought was to just rest and practice with a comfortable mind for a week.
On Saturday, the first day of practice, I was surprised while listening to the guide’s lecture. Because they explained difficult problems easily, quickly to understand, and clearly, it seemed many questions were easily resolved.
“And I realized that studying this meditation is not something you can choose to do or not do, but a study you absolutely must do.”
Although I couldn’t rest my body comfortably for a week and it was a grueling schedule, instead, the mind that transformed my complicated and distressed human mind into the mind of the universe seems like it will become a turning point in my life.
“I am grateful to the world that guided me here, and I, too, will make an effort for others in the world.”
Once again, I sincerely thank the many guides who stayed with us until late at night.

π± NEXT STEPS: Take a Break From Work and Rediscover Yourself
Have you spent years working hard without giving yourself enough time to reflect on your life? Perhaps your days are filled with responsibilities, deadlines, and constant mental activity, leaving you physically tired and emotionally overwhelmed.
A vacation can provide temporary relief from everyday demands, but sometimes we return home carrying the same worries, frustrations, and accumulated thoughts. Finding a different perspective may require more than simply changing our surroundings.
Mind subtraction meditation offers a structured opportunity to look back on the mental pictures accumulated throughout life and practice letting them go. Through guided self-reflection, individuals can explore how past experiences, habitual thoughts, and emotional reactions influence their everyday lives.
As Oh Eui-geun’s experience illustrates, a meaningful break does not always involve physical relaxation. His meditation program was demanding, yet he found value in the lectures, the process of discarding his mind, and the opportunity to reconsider how he wanted to live.
Whether you are exhausted by work, searching for greater meaning, or simply feeling that something needs to change, making time for self-reflection can be an important first step.
Sometimes, the most valuable break from everyday life is not an escape from responsibility but an opportunity to discover a new way of living.
