π Introduction
When life feels incredibly difficult, it is natural to look for the cause outside of ourselves. We blame our financial situations, our families, or the world for our stress, anger, and feelings of futility. We think, “If only this situation would change, I would be happy.”
But what if the root cause of all that exhaustion and rage isn’t the outside world, but the heavy mind we carry inside?
In this post, two individuals share their powerful stories of hitting rock bottomβfacing severe depression, intense resentment, and a complete loss of meaning in life. By learning how to look inward and discard their accumulated minds, they discovered a life-changing truth: the person tormenting them the most was themselves. Read how emptying the mind helped them escape the darkness and find a completely new direction.
π¬ Story 1: “Finding the reason why everything felt futile no matter what I did”
By Moon Hong-seo / Age 41 / Level 7
It seems I had been living my life only looking forward, dragged around only by external things like money and family, while thinking to myself, ‘This isn’t right.’ In the midst of this, the winter of 2013 was a continuous series of especially depressing and difficult days. I couldn’t find the meaning of life, couldn’t fill the emptiness no matter what I did, and eventually, my body started aching too.
Thinking I absolutely couldn’t live like this, I decided to restart the meditation I used to do in college and tried it alone, but instead, my energy flushed up to my head, worsening my symptoms. As a truly last resort, I chose this meditation.
“Until then, I thought I found all the causes on the outside, getting angry and stressed out, but after meditating, I realized that everything was caused by me…”
I deeply felt the fact that I had lived without knowing gratitude toward the world. I am still in the process of practicing, but compared to before I meditated, my body and mind seem to be getting much happier. I want to live the rest of my life together with this meditation. I pray in my heart to become someone who can be of even a little use to the world. Thank you.

π¬ Story 2: “Discarding all anger and resentment and solving the questions of life”
By Anonymous / Age 25
Before I started practicing, I felt so hopeless and wanted to die so much that I thought I wouldn’t even be able to practice. I was resentful and hated the world and the people around me, and I had so much anger and rage that daily life was impossible.
Coming to this meditation and discarding as the method taught me, the life I had lived gradually became clearly visible. I realized that the feelings of hating the whole world and feeling wronged were all minds that I had created and consumed myself.
“I could also see that the one tormenting me until now was not others, but me. So I felt I must truly continuously discard the flawed and fake me according to the method…”
The practice became increasingly easier and more fun. I could understand why I had lived like this until now with this kind of mind, that all the causes were within me, and I could truly discard all of that me. All the minds I held in my heart were actually discarded, and my mind found a direction on how I should live from now on.
Even in actual daily life, I brightened up, and I could feel that I no longer looked at people with my own thoughts and the negative minds I used to hold, and I wasn’t tied down to them anymore. The method is so easy, yet it is truly amazing that all the questions I had in my life are solved and my mind that used to torment me is genuinely discarded. I am so grateful and happy to have encountered such a method.
