📖 Introduction

Many of us navigate life carrying hidden emotional weights—whether it’s unexplained anger directed at our colleagues, or a deep sense of helplessness that lingers despite our best efforts to heal. We often try to mask these feelings or just learn to live with the pain, thinking there is no other way.

In this post, two individuals share their profound realizations about the true causes of their inner turmoil. Through the practice of mind subtraction, they were able to look objectively at their past, discover the root of their anger and depression, and finally begin to break free.

Read their stories to see how facing your true mind can lead to genuine change and lasting peace.

💬 Story 1: 💼 “Knowing What the Anger in My Heart Is”

By Rosemary / Level 1

I started to feel that the size of my mind’s vessel was small. As a company CEO, I realized that employees already have a lot of work stress, but they were constantly receiving emotional instructions from their boss. Reflecting on this, I blindly started to increase the size of my mind.

My son also started meditating at the Main Center 5 months ago and his mind became much more at ease. Through this process, I learned what the anger in my heart was, and I realized what the cause was. I think this realization will be a huge change for me.

“It provided a direction on what kind of mind I should have toward the people around me. (That my own shameful inferiority complex and victim mentality manifested as authority and a desire to show off to others, and that created another inferiority complex in the other person, developing into a situation of mutual conflict…)”

I started with the 1-week course, but I plan to make time and continue doing it in the future.

💬 Story 2: 🕊️ “A Mind Not Bound by the Past or Future”

By Sung Min-sun / Age 28 / Level 1

Throughout my life, I lived tormenting myself in various ways, as if being chased by something. After deeply feeling depression and helplessness, I received psychological counseling for a year, learning how to find the cause of my pain and understand it. While I was finding mental stability, the pain still didn’t disappear, and the thought that I had to acknowledge it and live with it plunged me into an even greater sense of despair. I started it upon the recommendation of a friend who had been watching me.

“I acutely realized that I had been living ‘negatively’ without even knowing it, and that I was intoxicated by my fake self, trapped in ‘my world.’ It became an opportunity to resolve that the present is important and that I shouldn’t be bound by the past or the future.”

Actually, I had been living under the illusion that my stubborn personality of not listening well to others meant I had clear subjective views. I shed many tears because I disliked and was ashamed of my past self who thought that was the truth. I briefly thought it would have been easier if I hadn’t been born with such a mind, but I want to discard even that mind and definitely complete the final level of this meditation.

Experiencing negative limits and doing what is called ‘effort’ to overcome them was the biggest change. Until now, I had set my own line for all difficult things, saying ‘my limit is here,’ and gave up countless times. I haven’t reached a satisfactory limit yet so I can’t say it confidently, but I dare to call it ‘effort.’
