πŸ“– Introduction

When we feel overwhelmed by anxiety or negativity, our first instinct is usually to try and “manage” it. We try to force ourselves to think positively, or we use meditation simply as a tool to temporarily calm our racing thoughts. In social situations, we put on layers of masks to hide our deep-seated skepticism and fear of being judged. But forced positivity and temporary calm don’t remove the root of the pain; they just cover it up. What happens when you stop trying to manage your heavy thoughts and actually discard them?

In this post, two practitioners share their profound realizations about the difference between managing the mind and emptying it. A 64-year-old discovers that true happiness isn’t just shifting from negative to positive thoughts, but discarding the mind entirely. Meanwhile, a 25-year-old finds the courage to peel off exhausting social masks and discard the deep-seated fear of being shunned.

Read their transformative stories to see how discarding your false mind offers a much deeper, more permanent peace than simply trying to calm it down.

πŸ’¬ Story 1: πŸ’“ “My Heart Beat Knowing How to Live Happily”

By Smile Hug / Age 64 / Level 1

Wanting to know exactly what the mind is, I blindly registered for 1 week and visited the Main Center with the intention of staying. Perhaps because I had a lot of interest in the mind, once I learned about the mind, my frustration disappeared.

“Until now, I thought that changing a negative mind into a positive one was enjoying happiness in life, but learning that discarding the pictures of the mind one took while living is the way to turn a tied-down life into happiness, my heart beat.”

From now on, by having the habit of continuously discarding the pictures I have kept taking and piling up in my mind, confidence that I can lead my life in a better direction and a feeling of pride are generated together.

I want to intentionally make time to continue practicing and enjoy the universe’s mind and happiness.

πŸ’¬ Story 2: 🎭 “Rather Than Calming the Mind, Trying to Discard It”

By Kim Woo-hyun / Age 25 / Level 2

At first, I thought the place called this meditation was simply a meditation that calms the mind down. Before practicing, I was engulfed in numerous anxieties and worries.

“While suffering from skepticism and disgust toward myself beneath the layers of masks I was wearing, I couldn’t give up the fear of being shunned by people and the momentary pleasure the masks provided.”

However, peeling off the masks and discarding my mind through meditation, a more comfortable and happier world was waiting.
