π Introduction
When we are tightly bound to our past experiences and the things that have hurt us, we often build defensive walls. We become trapped in our own narrow perspectives, judging others easily and acting selfishly to protect ourselves. This inner turmoil can make us lash out, hurt the people around us, and completely block our ears to any advice or guidanceβbrushing it off as mere “nagging.” We live defensively, but deep down, carrying that heavy, stubborn mind is exhausting. What happens when you finally stop defending your past and take a genuine, honest look at yourself?
In this post, two practitioners share the powerful relief of profound self-reflection. A 19-year-old shares how discarding his negative mind helped him stop hurting others, unblock his ears, and finally learn to listen and think before acting. Meanwhile, a 34-year-old reflects on the liberating moment she realized her judgments of others stemmed purely from her own selfish ties to past hurts.
Read their inspiring stories to see how mind subtraction can help you let go of your defensive walls, truly listen to the world, and find relief through honest self-reflection.
π¬ Story 1: π± “How I, Who Used to Hurt People, Changed After Meditation”
By Junseok Lee / Age 19 / Level 1
What can I say about before meditation? I simply never heard anything good from people. Because I did so many bad things and hurt people. Moreover, I don’t know if my ears are blocked, but whatever people say just sounds like nagging or doesn’t reach my heart. Even what my parents say.
“But now, although I can’t say I’ve changed completely, I still try hard to listen to what people say. I think one more time before doing something, and I think about whether this is really right.”
Anyway, I am truly thankful.

π¬ Story 2: ποΈ “I Saw the ‘Me’ Tied to the Past, the Selfish ‘Me'”
By Yoojin Jin / Age 34 / Level 1
“Looking back at my past self, I realized that I was tied to the things that hurt me and everything I experienced in the past. And I saw the selfish me who only thought from my perspective and judged others.”
I reflected a lot, and I feel very relieved knowing that all the past things I was tied to were useless.
