📖 Introduction

Have you ever smiled on the outside while feeling empty or unhappy inside? Many people hide their true feelings behind a cheerful appearance, constantly worrying about being disliked or rejected. Over time, this need for approval can lead to insecurity, jealousy, emotional exhaustion, and a painful sense of losing touch with who we really are.

In this heartfelt meditation testimonial, a 21-year-old practitioner shares how years of pretending to be happy and seeking others’ approval led to depression and difficulties in relationships. Through mind subtraction meditation, the practitioner began recognizing hidden feelings of inferiority and self-centeredness, releasing suppressed emotions, and discovering a lighter, more peaceful mind.

💬 Story: 🌱 “After Briefly Realizing That the Mind Does Not Exist, I Became So Comfortable and Light”

By Number 210 / Age 21 / Level 2

Even while forming human relationships, I always felt emptiness within them. Ever since I was young, hating to show my depressed inner thoughts, I smiled more and pretended to be bright. When dealing with people, I lived constantly packaging myself, always anxiously worrying if that person might dislike me.

So I didn’t feel it well when I was young, but as I grew up, I became confused about this side of myself. The question to myself about what kind of person the real me is, and when I will ever escape this packaging and truly live genuinely, led me to fall into various bouts of depression.

Looking back, I was truly a mass of inferiority, always wanting to be loved, and possessing so much jealousy. And I always thought that the surrounding environment was giving me a hard time, but I desperately realized that I was actually making myself suffer. Also, because I was always trapped within myself, I unknowingly felt a sense of repulsion just towards doing something together with others.

But while meditating, I realized that I lived doing such vain things in an egoistic life trapped too deeply in my own mold. I realized that my human relationships never had sincerity, and I judged right and wrong within my own mold. Only then could I realize the preciousness of being together.

“And briefly realizing that everything tormenting me was a false picture and that the mind does not exist, I became so comfortable and light.”

By pulling out the deep emotions I had suppressed and discarding them, my constantly complicated head cleared up, and I think I’ve become a bit happier.

The gratitude is for meditating together with good people for a week, and I am thankful that there are always people around to help.
