📖 Introduction

Many of us search for happiness in external things. We attend festivals, read self-help books, jump into relationships to cure our loneliness, or develop extreme diet obsessions, believing that if we achieve the “perfect” body, people will finally love us. We put on a polite, humble mask for the world, but behind closed doors, we struggle with severe insomnia, bulimia, and an overwhelming sense of emptiness. When the temporary distractions fade, the dark thought creeps in: “Why do I even exist?” What happens when you stop searching for external fixes and finally address the heavy, painful pictures stored in your mind?

In this post, two practitioners share their incredible journeys of physical and mental recovery. A 71-year-old man shares how clearing his mind resolved his depressed state, improved his digestion, and brought a profound sense of physical lightness. Meanwhile, a 20-year-old university student shares a raw, honest confession of how dropping her self-centered masks and confronting her own faults completely cured her severe depression, bulimia, and insomnia.

Read their transformative stories to see how discarding the false mind can replace endless emptiness with true, radiant brightness.

💬 Story 1: 🍃 “Digestion is Good, and Random Thoughts Have Largely Disappeared”

By Junboo Ko / Age 71 / Level 7

Compared to before meditating, I feel my body is lighter and I can tell my mood is refreshed.

“After meditating, my mood is refreshed and I feel so good like my body could fly. Stress and the depressed state of my mind have been largely resolved.”

My sleep state is maintaining a more stable state than before doing this meditation, my meal portion has increased, and digestion is going well. Random thoughts have also largely disappeared.

💬 Story 2: ☀️ “After Depression and Insomnia Disappeared, Hearing ‘You Got So Bright’ Every Day”

By Chaeeun Song / Age 20 / Level 1

I lived putting on all sorts of acts: being negative, pretending to be a filial daughter, pretending to be humble, pretending to be polite, etc. All the while, I got annoyed and angry at the people around me every moment, and if the world didn’t go my way, I naturally blamed others. And as I gradually grew up, I experienced insomnia and depression. Besides this, I got a diet obsession and bulimia. After developing a stereotype that people would love me if I dieted and got slim, I repeated fasting and binge eating.

After coming to university, I looked for various methods to find happiness. I went to listen to lectures, went to festivals, read books, etc. But these things were only fun at that exact moment, and as time passed, I felt empty and depressed. Looking back on myself, I tried to date boyfriends to resolve my loneliness, and I had the selfish mind that the people around me must always stay by my side for me.

Yet I was lonely, empty, and endlessly depressed and sad. As this time passed, the thought ‘Why do I exist in this world? It’s okay if I die right now’ took deep root. Endless inferiority complex. Through the mind pictures I took, I often said to my mom, ‘Why did you give birth to me?’ and said too many hurtful words to my family.

“The thing I felt most while meditating was that I thought I said very harsh words when my sisters and I fought. But I realized that severe harsh words go back and forth because of me. Before that, I thought it was my older sister’s fault or my younger sisters’ fault. I realized that all of this is my fault, and I realized, ‘I am truly wicked.'”

Also, depression and insomnia disappeared, and I started hearing from people around me a lot, ‘You got so bright.’
