π Introduction
We often go through life convinced that we are doing our best. We build up a facade, believing we know exactly who we are, and when problems arise in our families, we often look outward for a solution. As parents, it is incredibly easy to project our own pride and expectations onto our children, feeling a toxic mix of guilt and resentment when they struggle to fit the mold we created for them. Even professional counseling can sometimes fail to bridge that gap.
In this post, two individuals share their profound moments of looking in the mirror. One is a 54-year-old man who was shocked to discover that his seemingly normal life was actually built on deep hypocrisy. The other is a mother who, after years of struggling with her son’s interpersonal issues and her own heavy guilt, realized that the problem wasn’t her son at allβit was her own pride.
Read their courageous confessions to see how truly facing yourself and emptying the mind can heal deep-seated hypocrisy and transform family resentment into genuine acceptance.
π¬ Story 1: ποΈ “Looking Back on a Life Full of Hypocrisy”
By Gidae Kim / Age 54 / Level 1
I participated with the mindset of working hard and believing what I was told, as I had previously heard confident persuasion from an experienced practitioner of this meditation that it has a definite effect. I figured I would gain as much as I put in, and that each person would receive something appropriate according to their own effort. I approached it with the intention of forgetting everything else and doing my absolute best during the given time.
While enduring the difficult process day by day, I gained something much larger than I had anticipated and had an amazing experience. I thought I knew what kind of life I had lived until now, but I was so baffled and couldn’t understand the fact that I didn’t know my own lived life at all.
“The life I looked back on through meditation was a dirty, garbage-like life, a life full of hypocrisy. In that regard, I couldn’t help but admit that I had lived a life where a human wasn’t truly a human.”
I am grateful for being able to have the most valuable experience of my life. I will continue to proceed with this meditation to the end.

π¬ Story 2: π€± “It Wasn’t My Son’s Problem, It Was My Problem”
By Autumn Wind (Gaeulbaram) / Age 47 / Level 7
As I lived my life, there was an inexplicable sense of emptiness and void. I was more comfortable being alone than hanging out with people, and I lived with more interest in nature, plants, and animals. I had the first love marriage in my family, but we couldn’t conceive, which made my parents constantly worry. Feeling extremely envious of pregnant women, I enlisted the power of science, as they say, and had twins.
Thinking of them as a gift from heaven, but also burdened with having to work, I ended up leaving my older son in the care of my in-laws when they offered to raise him. I brought him back after 15 months and raised them together. As the twins grew and entered elementary school, I began to seriously worry about interpersonal relationships. Whenever my son struggled, I felt everything was my fault, and I even felt guilty for not raising him myself early on.
So I made a lot of effort, even taking him to counseling, but it wasn’t easily resolved. Eventually, I began to regret the gift from heaven, thinking, “Why did I have kids and suffer like this? Why was this kind of child born to me?”
“I always resented my lacking son for scratching my pride. Following the recommendation of my child’s middle school homeroom teacher, I started meditating and began to see that everything was not my son’s problem, but my own problem, and I saw my true colors.”
I had tried to fit my son into the mold of my mind, never once looking at him exactly as he was, and I didn’t know how to accept him. My son became the condition that allowed me to continue meditating.
I thought the study dealing with the human mind was the ultimate study, so in addition to my major, I studied a lot of counseling, but it was all useless. Through meditation, I learned acceptance and a thankful heart. I bow my head before the providence of the great universe that brought me to where I am today. I thank everyone who helped me this way, thank you again, and I pledge only to be able to finish this mind study to the very end. Thank you.
