πŸ“– Introduction

Life’s pressures and our own internal struggles can often leave us feeling isolated, depressed, and physically exhausted. Whether it is a deep lack of confidence that paralyzes us from moving forward, or the relentless pursuit of success that leads to severe insomnia and burnout, the root cause often lies within the heavy burdens we carry in our minds.

In this post, two individuals share their honest journeys of overcoming these dark times. Through the practice of mind subtraction, one was able to heal from severe depression and an inferiority complex, while a working parent discovered why achieving her goals never actually brought her happiness.

Read their stories to see how letting go of the false mind can restore your health, confidence, and inner peace.

πŸ’¬ Story 1: πŸŒ… “Overcoming Depression and Gaining Confidence That I Can Do Well Too”

By Jonghyun Baek / Age 28 / Level 1

Perhaps because I lacked effort, I couldn’t move up to Level 2 in a week. Because I couldn’t guarantee the result, I had a strong desire to go home, but listening to the helpers’ advice, I decided to stay another week to overcome the fight with myself. As a result, thankfully, I moved up to Level 2.

Before coming, I suffered from severe depression. Whatever I did, I lacked confidence, and I felt like I was left alone in the world. Due to severe depression, I wasn’t confident I could do well in my upcoming work life either.

“At first, I simply visited the meditation center to treat depression, but coming here was a good opportunity to look back on myself and confirm what went wrong. I also gained hope that even I, who was completely wrapped in an inferiority complex and envy, could live like that.”

I think the past 2 weeks were a truly precious time in my life. I am truly thankful and happy that such an opportunity came to me. I am also truly thankful to those who meditated with me.

πŸ’¬ Story 2: 🌻 “The Reason I Wasn’t Happy Even Having What I Wanted”

By YH LEE

The reason I started meditating is that, while trying to gain the honor visible before my eyes while working, the physical overload caused by greed for housework, child-rearing, and promotion led to mental suffering. This caused me to experience immense tension even in ordinary situations, which led to insomnia, making it hard to eat and even go to the bathroom. At the point where basic daily life became almost impossible, I was drawn to the story of this meditation and started meditating.

In just 2 weeks, I started to fall asleep, and eating and going to the bathroom became possible. More than anything, the warmth of the people at the meditation center made me feel humanity, so I continued going to the job I had planned to quit.

“I realized that the reason I never thought my lifeβ€”which had always achieved what it wantedβ€”was happy, was because I tried to achieve it in the illusory world that is the human mind.”

However, as my body got a bit better, my meditation dragged on, and just as a lot of minds came up in the middle and I was thinking of quitting, I sent my oldest child to the university student camp of this meditation. Seeing them change immensely, I made a resolution again that I too must quickly and diligently follow the Levels.
