📖 Introduction
Many families quietly endure emotional struggles, stress, financial pressure, illness, and relationship difficulties while simply trying to continue everyday life.
Often, people believe that sacrificing themselves silently and enduring hardship alone is what love and family responsibility mean.
But true peace and genuine love inside a family cannot come only from endurance.
This heartfelt meditation testimonial shares the story of Kang K., a self-employed business owner who spent years caring for her family, running a business, raising children, and supporting her in-laws while quietly suppressing her own emotions.
Everything changed after her family encountered meditation.
As each family member gradually learned to let go of attachment, resentment, stress, and emotional burdens, their relationships became warmer, calmer, and more sincere.
Even during years of severe hardship — including her husband’s life-threatening cardiac arrest and multiple surgeries — she discovered an unexpected sense of gratitude, peace, and strength.
This powerful meditation testimonial beautifully shows how inner change can transform not only one individual, but an entire family.
💬 Meditation Testimonial: “If We Had Never Practiced This Meditation…”
By Kang K. | Self-Employed Business Owner
My husband and I run a butcher shop together while raising two daughters — one in college and one in middle school.
After getting married, I lived by giving up everything for others.
I lived with my in-laws and tried my best to take care of the household, the business, my husband, my children, and my husband’s family.
I disliked arguments and conflict, so I always tried to live quietly and unnoticed.
If I did not do that, my own heart felt uncomfortable.
🌱 “That’s Right… This Really Makes Sense”
In the summer of 2001, my husband happened to see a booklet introducing this meditation and began practicing it.
Every night after closing the butcher shop and returning from the meditation center, he would spend one or two hours talking about what he learned through meditation.
Without realizing it, I found myself listening carefully and thinking:
“That’s right…
This really makes sense.”
The more my husband practiced meditation, the more considerate and gentle he became toward me.
And the number of times he became angry noticeably decreased.
The following summer, he sent our older daughter — who was in eighth grade at the time — to a youth meditation camp, saying:
“This is the only thing Dad can truly give you.”
Our daughter willingly agreed because she had already watched how much her father had changed over the previous year.
The day she returned from camp, my husband and I went together to pick her up.
The moment I saw her face, I was shocked.
It genuinely looked as though she was glowing.
I could immediately feel that something inside her had changed.
Before, she usually talked much more with me than with her father.
But after meditation camp, she began speaking deeply with him as well.
Then, in 2003, I also started practicing this meditation myself.
💔 My Husband Suddenly Collapsed From Cardiac Arrest
Through meditation, I began discarding countless emotions and attachments:
Love.
Joy.
Sadness.
Longing.
Hatred.
Pride.
Even my “good thoughts.”
I had always believed I was sacrificing myself entirely for my family.
But through meditation, I realized that even those actions were often done for my own emotional comfort and peace of mind.
Surprisingly, the more I discarded my mind, the more sincerely my family treated me, and my children grew up even better.
Then, on February 1st, 2005 — during a freezing winter morning below -20°C — everything suddenly changed.
That morning, my husband and I opened the butcher shop together and drank coffee as usual.
Afterward, he went into the storage room to organize supplies.
About two hours later, when I entered the storage room myself, I found him collapsed in one corner.
He had suffered cardiac arrest.
As I watched his skin gradually turning dark, I immediately called emergency services.
An ambulance arrived and rushed him to the hospital, where doctors performed CPR.
Thankfully, he survived the immediate crisis.
But afterward, he developed tracheal stenosis and required repeated surgeries and hospitalizations.
For three years, he repeatedly cycled between hospitalization and returning home.
The most difficult surgery involved removing and reconnecting part of his airway.
After more than ten hours of surgery under general anesthesia, he returned immobilized in a cast from his head down to his waist for an entire month.
For three years, he breathed through a hole in his neck.
And yet…
My husband never became irritable.
Our children continued growing up well.
And somehow, I was able to support everything without collapsing emotionally myself.
Even doctors and nurses often commented that our family always seemed unusually bright and positive.
🌿 Without Meditation, Could We Really Have Endured This?
Honestly, whether I practiced meditation or not, these hardships still would have come into my life.
But if we had never practiced this meditation…
I truly believe our family would have suffered unbearably.
Life would have felt like hell.
Not long ago, our oldest daughter told me:
“If I hadn’t practiced this meditation, I probably never would have gotten into college.”
She never attended private academies.
After school, she simply studied quietly on her own.
She says that because her mind became emptier, her concentration naturally improved.
No matter what she does, she approaches life positively and actively, and even as her mother, I feel deeply proud of her.
Now my husband has fully recovered and works together with me again at the butcher shop.
These days, just seeing his face naturally makes me smile.
He feels precious and lovable to me.
Even the smallest things fill me with gratitude now.
There is not a single thing in life that does not feel precious.
And more than anything, I feel deeply thankful that I can truly love my family, the people around me, and this world from the bottom of my heart.
