📖 Introduction
Have you ever noticed how your attitude toward others affects the happiness you experience? When we constantly criticize, complain, or blame people for our difficulties, even ordinary relationships can become stressful. We may spend years waiting for others to change without realizing that our own thoughts and judgments influence how we experience the world.
In these two meditation testimonials, a 56-year-old practitioner discovers how letting go of negativity and blaming others brought greater happiness and motivation, while a 60-year-old experiences profound peace and gratitude after releasing judgments about right and wrong. Through mind subtraction meditation, both begin to appreciate the people and connections around them with a new perspective.
💬 Story 1: 🌻 “When the Mind Changes, Happiness Naturally Rolls In”
By Kim Jeong-hee / Age 56 / Level 1
Self-discovery, feeling that if I lower myself and look at the other person, the way they treat me will also be different. The suffocating mind and negativity disappear, and positive thoughts and mind are felt. Before meditating, I criticized and complained about the other person saying “Who do you think you are,” but I realized it was all my fault and my mistake.
What has changed: My mind became comfortable, and I can live just like this. I learned that happiness can roll in naturally. I found motivation and reward in life. A wish that I had known earlier, a resolve to live changing from now on, and realizing that I must change for the other person to change too. Repenting for the great mistake of thinking everything was only the other person’s fault, I pledge to definitely change.

💬 Story 2: 🌳 “It Feels as If I Was Born as a Peaceful Mind Itself”
By Kim Soo-tae / Age 60 / Level 1
First, “Thank you” to those who helped with the meditation. When I first knew my true nature, I was so surprised. Also, when I let go of arguing right and wrong during meditation, my tremendous ‘changed thoughts’ were enough to thoroughly surprise myself. You and I, the trees around the meditation center, the teachers who meditated with me… I learned for the first time that all of these are such lovely and precious connections. I have no thought of ‘having become something’ and it feels as if I was born as a peaceful mind itself. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
As in the poem, “Do not kick a briquette ash carelessly. Have you ever once been something that warms another person!” I will live with that mind unchangingly going forward.
