📖 Introduction
We are incredibly good at convincing ourselves that everything is fine. As we grow into adults, we learn to bury our childhood dissatisfaction, mask our insecurities, and walk what society calls the “right path.” We build comfortable routines and proudly declare that we have no real worries or stress. But if we look closely, we often find that this peace is an illusion. We aren’t truly free; we are simply ignoring the deeply hidden emotional baggage in the corners of our minds, adjusting every standard of right and wrong to suit our own selfish comfort. What happens when you finally stop pretending and face the truth of your own mind?
In this post, two individuals share their humbling moments of profound self-reflection. A 23-year-old woman, who believed she had completely overcome her past insecurities, discovered a lingering selfishness that was blocking her from feeling true gratitude. A 49-year-old man, who prided himself on living a righteous life, realized his entire world had been built around his own self-centered comfort.
Read their honest stories to see how confronting your hidden selfishness shatters the illusion of “living well,” opening the door to genuine gratitude and a truly authentic life.
💬 Story 1: 🌸 “It Is Certain That It Was a Rewarding Week”
By Jeolseminyeo (Matchless Beauty) / Age 23 / Level 1
When I first arrived, this place was very unfamiliar. Unfamiliar air, an unfamiliar place, unfamiliar people. After unpacking, the first lecture gave me quite a fresh shock. ‘What is this place… what do they do here?’ The first lecture approached me strangely and unfamiliarly, but as a day passed, and two days passed, I felt the method of this place resonating with me.
Normally, I took good care of myself and lived without worries or stress, but I felt like I had awakened to the essence. In the past, I was a child who harbored dissatisfaction with the world, situations, and family. As I became an adult and matured, I overcame that dissatisfaction, lack of affection, sense of alienation, and inferiority complex in my own way, so I had no worries or stress.
“However, by meditating, I felt that an emotion deep inside, something essential, a decadent emotion in a corner of my mind that I had tried to ignore, was rearing its head.”
On the last day of this meditation, I cannot say it was a perfectly done Level, but because I clearly knew the cause and the essence, I can picture a brighter future for myself. Ah.. and the changed aspect is that it was good to desperately feel ‘gratitude’. I was definitely selfish. It might be an unavoidable selfishness because I am human, but I think I tried to ignore the gratitude, the gratitude toward my family. Isn’t that the biggest emotion I came to feel after coming here? A week with a lot of regrets, and also a week that let me know gratitude.
I will meditate and do this meditation occasionally or often in the future, and while I can’t say it suits me 100%, it’s still a place I’d like to come to at least one more time. It is certain that it was a rewarding week.

💬 Story 2: 🪞 “An Opportunity to Look Back on Life”
By J.O one / Age 49 / Level 1
As I finished Level 1 of this meditation, it was good because it was an opportunity to look back on my life.
Living for 47 years, I thought I tried my best to walk the right path that society talks about.
“Because I didn’t know that the world I lived in was self-centered, I think I lived adjusting all standards to situations that were comfortable for me.”
During this Level, I realized I lived a truly disappointing life. Now that I know how to escape from this self-centered mind world, I will make efforts to adapt and live in the escaped world.
