📖 Introduction

When we are overwhelmed by our own stress, anxiety, and desires, it is incredibly easy to become isolated. We get so trapped in our own thoughts that we can’t truly hear what others are saying. We walk around feeling like we are the only person in the world, living inside a bubble of our own making. We constantly take mental “pictures” of our stress and replay them endlessly, letting those false images dictate our future. But what happens when you finally step outside of that bubble and realize those pictures aren’t real?

In this post, two young adults share their eye-opening experiences of breaking free from the isolation of their own minds. A 19-year-old discovers how to truly listen to others after letting go of her self-centered habits, while a 31-year-old finds immense confidence and relaxation by realizing his worries were nothing more than false pictures.

Read their inspiring stories to see how emptying the mind can completely change the way you connect with the world.

💬 Story 1: 🪞 “I Hear Other People’s Stories and See My Own Reflection”

By Kim Min-ji / Age 19 / Level 1

Before meditating, I couldn’t really trust what others said and couldn’t hear them with my heart, but after meditating, it seems I can hear what other people are saying.

“Also, I couldn’t manage myself well and felt like I was the only one in the world, but it seems I’m gradually managing myself better and that feeling has disappeared.”

Also, I had never sat for such a long time, but it seems my patience has grown while meditating. And I came to see myself, who only did what I wanted to do too much.

💬 Story 2: 📸 “Gaining Confidence in My Life”

By Lim Cheon-wook / Age 31 / Level 1

Just acknowledging the fact that the stressful things in life are pictures taken by the camera called the body made my mind feel very light. I deeply resonated with the fact that the pictures I take are continuously created by the pictures I had taken before.

“Knowing that the pictures are false makes me wonder why I suffered, got hurt, and was stressed by these falsehoods all this time; I feel they are meaningless. I can also easily shake off the uncertainties and worries about the future.”

I gain so much confidence in my future life that I can’t even understand why I struggled with these falsehoods all this time.

Looking back on my life through meditation, I learned a little bit about what makes me struggle, what pictures spawn other pictures, and why such pictures were created. I am glad that from now on, I will at least take fewer of these pictures. It’s surprising that I can definitively discard through meditation the negative pictures I took during the practice period.

Beyond just the method of doing this meditation or the fact that I gained something through it, the biggest change is that I have become more relaxed than before, and through that relaxation, I smile and laugh more. It is a joyful fact.
