📖 Introduction
Sometimes, we become so accustomed to feeling heavy, negative, or exhausted that we don’t even realize we are living in a state of depression. It becomes our normal. For others, the mind’s refusal to shut down manifests as a physical crisis, like severe insomnia, forcing us to finally confront the endless loop of our anxious thoughts. But what if these painful breaking points are actually hidden gifts, pointing us toward a radically better way to live?
In this post, two individuals share how they broke free from their mental prisons. One discovered and dismantled an unrecognized, lifelong habit of negativity and lethargy, while a teacher explains how a desperate battle with insomnia taught her how to literally “cut the tail” of her spiraling negative thoughts.
Read their inspiring stories to see how emptying the mind can turn your greatest trials into true happiness and deep, restful sleep.
💬 Story 1: 🌧️ “I Didn’t Even Recognize I Was Living Lethargically”
By Anonymous / Age 30 / Level 7
In the past, I think I was truly depressed and negative. But I didn’t even recognize the fact itself that I was a negative person and had lived feeling depressed.
As I started meditating, I came to look back on my life. Looking back on my lived life from an objective standpoint, I could discover myself always thinking negatively and always living lethargically.
“Emptying my mind according to the guided method, the depressed, lethargic me and the negatively thinking me disappeared, and my mind became comfortable.”
And I came to have a thankful heart for everything, and because I am always thankful, I am joyful and happy.

💬 Story 2: ✂️ “I Cut the Tail of Negative Thoughts and Self-Pity”
By Anonymous
I started this meditation to overcome insomnia. My most changed appearance after this meditation is that if only time permits, I can now sleep for 10 hours. Sometimes insomnia visits again, but if I drink a can of beer and read a book, I seem to fall asleep before I know it. Another thing is that I have become very positive.
In the past, negative thoughts bit each other’s tails and dragged on, so I would fall deep into them, but now, thinking of this as a recorded picture of the mind and trying to discard it, it is discarded.
“So it seems I cut the tail of negative thoughts and don’t fall into self-pity. Finally, because I am thankful for my family, my job, this meditation, and the helper, everyone around me looks pretty.”
My students look much cuter and lovelier than before, and my family, whom I was dissatisfied with, also looks pretty much more often.
So now I think the trial of insomnia ultimately presented me with a new path. And I am just thankful that the conditions were set for me to continue.
