📖 Introduction
When you are battling long-term insomnia and severe panic symptoms, hitting rock bottom often leaves you in a state of complete physical and mental exhaustion. In that desperate state, all you want to do is rest. However, true healing rarely comes from simply sleeping or ignoring the pain; it requires bravely facing the deep, hidden emotions that cause the panic in the first place. But what happens when you decide to endure the hardest moments and finally empty those buried negative feelings?
In this post, a 36-year-old practitioner shares an incredibly raw and powerful journey of overcoming panic and insomnia through mind subtraction meditation. Arriving at the center desperate for rest, they initially struggled with the rigorous process of confronting their boiling negative emotions. Yet, by pushing through the moments they wanted to give up, they experienced a profound breakthrough—discarding hidden emotions at their rock bottom, crying tears of repentance, and stabilizing their mind without the need for panic medication.
Read this inspiring story to discover how facing your deepest emotions and emptying your mind can be the ultimate turning point to overcoming panic and living a truly happy life.
💬 Story 1: “Seeing the end of the emotions I didn’t even know existed at my rock bottom, and after subtracting them”
By Anonymous / Age 36 / Level 1
Suffering from long-term insomnia and panic symptoms, I visited this meditation’s Main Center with a desperate heart. Being in a state of physical and mental exhaustion, I visited the meditation center thinking I would heal and rest, but unlike what I thought, it was packed with a tight schedule from morning to evening.
For the first two days, as the negative minds I had accumulated boiled up, I found myself captivated by those emotions and fighting them rather than subtracting, and it felt like my already exhausted body and mind were suffering even more. However, trusting the helpers’ words not to be disappointed or give meaning to the arising images and to keep trying, I participated diligently.
“As a result, from the morning of the 4th day, uncontrollable tears of repentance and reflection flowed, and I felt my mind become refreshed. It seemed the space where the mind was subtracted was filled with feelings of gratitude and apology.”
Even while participating diligently, as my body and mind struggled, I spent the 6 days running out and wandering unable to endure it like the tiger in the Dangun myth, doubting if this really had an effect, and blaming myself when subtraction went well but then didn’t.
On the 6th day, seeing the end of the emotions I didn’t even know existed at my rock bottom, and after subtracting them, I felt a sense of relief in my chest and realized this is the effect of subtraction. I realized there is a true world in my mind.
“Feeling momentarily stabilized without taking panic medication, I personally experienced that physical changes originate from the mind, and I want to convey to the next Level 1 meditators that the moment you want to give up is the real opportunity.”
Encountering mind study through pain seems to be a necessity and luck in my life. I want to study to the end, return, treat people with the big mind of the world, and live a happy life.
