📖 Introduction

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the relentless pressures of your workplace, or finding yourself withdrawing from the world because society just feels too stressful to handle? When we are weighed down by the stress of promotions, complex interpersonal relationships, or our own negative thoughts, we often search for the meaning of life or simply isolate ourselves to cope. However, obsessing over the past or being stubbornly set in our ways only deepens the pain. But what if there was a way to truly heal and discover who you really are?

In this post, two practitioners share how mind subtraction meditation became a true healing camp for their exhausted minds. A 43-year-old shares how workplace stress led him to seek the true value of life, ultimately realizing that his stubbornness and negative emotions were merely illusions. Meanwhile, a 24-year-old discusses how he used to isolate himself in a negative mindset, only to find that emptying his mind finally released his obsession with the past and cured his social stress.

Read their inspiring stories to discover how looking back on your life and emptying your mind can bring profound self-reflection and true healing.

💬 Story 1: “What I felt for the first time looking back on my life”

By pak1278 / Age 43 / Level 1

Due to stress from work life (promotions, interpersonal relationships), I knocked on the door of the Dongbaek Center for this meditation to find the answer to what the value and happiness of life are, and who I am.

Doing this meditation, looking back on the life I have lived so far, I came to know about my stubbornness, greed, and obsession that I had never felt before. I came to reflect a bit, and I think it became a truly meaningful opportunity to feel the preciousness of family once again.

“I realized the fact that I only thought of myself, insisted only I was right, and that both my emotions and thoughts are all illusions existing only in my mind, and I resolve to make efforts to cultivate a better life.”

Thank you to everyone who meditated with me and to the helpers.

💬 Story 2: “A true healing camp!”

By Hongseo Heo / Age 24 / Level 2

I was usually very negative. I liked being alone, watching movies alone, and spending time like that, but the only things that increased were my obsession with the past and stress, and I don’t think I could organize any of my thoughts. Thinking about it now, I think I was hurt even more by bringing up past events multiple times.

Even after going to university and making various friends, and going to the military and meeting various people, nothing changed, and on the contrary, the stress in that society was hard to handle.

“What I felt while meditating was that it became a time to look back on myself, it also served as a time for reflection, and I am thankful that I truly experienced a healing camp by emptying my mind.”
