📖 Introduction

When the things that matter most to us—like academics, career goals, or human relationships—don’t go our way, it is easy to feel entirely defeated. Frustration can quickly spiral into a swamp of negative emotions, including anger, resentment, and dissatisfaction. When we are swallowed up by these feelings, we often lose sight of who we truly are, living instead as a “fake” version of ourselves dictated by our circumstances and doubts. But what if you could escape that swamp and finally meet your true self?

In this post, an 18-year-old practitioner shares a profound realization experienced through mind subtraction meditation. After struggling with intense frustration over academics and relationships, he arrived at the meditation center filled with skepticism. However, by learning to discard his mind, he realized he had been trapped in a false “picture world.”

Read his inspiring story to discover how letting go of the false mind can help you escape negative emotions and embark on the ultimate journey to find the real you.

💬 Story 1: “I am about to embark on a journey to find the real me”

By Byun Hyun-jun / Age 18 / Level 1

Things important to me, like academics and human relationships, didn’t go my way. To me, these were my entire life, but since they didn’t go as I wanted, I felt frustrated. As time passed, this frustrated mind gradually turned into negative emotions like anger, complaints, dissatisfaction, and resentment.

These emotions were intense and swallowed me up. Trapped in a swamp of negative emotions, I couldn’t easily get out. I sought out this meditation wanting to escape this swamp and live anew.

For the past week, I lived and did this meditation at the scenic Nonsan This Meditation Main Center. I constantly doubted and couldn’t trust this meditation. Naturally, the practice couldn’t go well. However, while listening to the lectures on this meditation, I realized many things.

“That I had been living not as the ‘real me’ but as a ‘fake me’. And that I had been living inside the picture world in my mind. I am grateful and happy to have learned about myself and my inner self over the past week.”

The me who doubts and lacks confidence is not the real me. It is the me inside the picture world I have taken all this time. From this moment on, I am about to embark on a journey to find the ‘real me’ whom I have never met even once. I will definitely find the real me and be reborn in the real world.

I realized that the most important thing for a person is to live as their true self. I want to recommend this meditation to those reading this. You will not regret it.
