πŸ“– Introduction

Depression and lethargy can drain the color and motivation out of life, making even the simplest daily tasks feel impossible. When we feel this heavy, our first instinct is often to try and fix it by forcing ourselves to “think positively.” But more often than not, positive thinking isn’t enough, and the depression only deepens. We fail to realize that our exhaustion, sudden anger, and daydreaming are actually deeply rooted in the accumulated pictures of our past and our exhausting obsession with how we appear to others. But what if your depression isn’t a permanent condition, but simply a false mind created by a camera called “me”β€”and you can just discard it?

In this post, two young women share their inspiring journeys out of darkness. A 30-year-old shares how she realized her depression and obsession with appearances were merely illusions, and how discarding them cleared not only her dark mind but even her skin. Meanwhile, a 23-year-old reflects on how post-graduation stress turned into severe lethargy, and how she discovered that the true cause of her depression was the heavy pile of pictures she had taken throughout her life.

Read their powerful stories to see how mind subtraction goes beyond simple positive thinking, allowing you to discard the root cause of your depression and find genuine comfort.

πŸ’¬ Story 1: πŸ“Έ “Depression Is Also a Mind I Created”

By Shin Hae-seul / Age 30 / Level 1

I first started this meditation as a college student; I saw a promotional flyer by chance and started Level 1. My mind was always exhausted, but just by closing my eyes and discarding, I slept well, and my daydreaming and delusions decreased. Just by recalling the life I lived and discarding it, I acknowledged that the mind I had was false, and as the original universe revealed itself, I could feel my mind brightening Level by Level. My skin cleared up, and I could feel my dark mind clearing up too.

“As I realized that depression was also a false mind captured by a camera called ‘me’, my belief grew stronger that anything will disappear as long as I discard it. Realizing that the obsession with appearances was ultimately a mind I had consumed to look good and show off to others, discarding it made my mind much more comfortable, and my feelings of gratitude toward everyone around me began to grow.”

πŸ’¬ Story 2: 🌧️ “The Cause of My Depression Lay in the Life I Had Lived”

By Gukhwa / Age 23 / Level 1

After graduating from college, the stress I had received built up, and I, who used to be full of motivation, lost my drive and felt that I had changed from before. My anger increased significantly, and the depression and lethargy made even going about daily life too much for me.

“I thought just thinking positively would be enough, but the depression deepened. During this difficult time, I accidentally found out about a place called this meditation. There was a reason in the life I had lived for all this depression, lethargy, and rising anger.”

I came to understand that it was hard because the pictures of the life I lived, which I took in my mind throughout my life, had piled up. Discarding them one by one made my mind comfortable, and as time passed, I felt myself changing. I felt that finding out about this meditation was a great stroke of luck, and I felt I should diligently practice this meditation going forward.
