📖 Introduction
Perfectionism often looks like a drive for success on the outside, but on the inside, it can be a heavy burden driven by an inferiority complex. When we constantly focus on our inadequacies and try to control everything perfectly, the immense stress eventually leaks out. It drops our concentration, fuels negative thoughts, and can even manifest as physical symptoms like nervous eye tics. When your own rigid standards become a trap, how do you break free?
In this post, a 30-year-old man shares his honest reflection on living as a timid, pessimistic perfectionist. Struggling with severe stress from social and family life that led to physical tics, he decided to look inward.
Read his story to see how the simple act of discarding fixed ideas allowed him to completely change his lifestyle, habits, and mindset.
💬 Story: 👁️ “I Can Change the Self-Pessimistic, Timid, and Perfectionist Me”
By Park Seong-jae / Age 30 / Level 1
The motive for coming here at first was to fill my feelings of inferiority and inadequacies, as my eye blinking worsened a lot due to stress from social life and family. My concentration at work dropped significantly, it was hard to control myself as I wanted, and as a result, negative tendencies grew stronger and I engaged in a lot of self-pessimism.
“But coming here and looking back through this meditation at myself who had lived narrow-mindedly and pathetically, I came to think that I could change the timid and perfectionist me.”
This is my second time just doing Level 1, and my thoughts have changed a lot compared to when I meditated 2 weeks ago. Two weeks ago, I thought it was worth coming just to listen to the lectures and realize the principles of the world in addition to mind subtraction, so I came back with the ambition to complete all educational Levels and do this meditation to the end.
When I listened to the lecture this time, I didn’t listen as actively as the first time, but I saw many minds I couldn’t discover last time, and I think I worked harder.
I felt the thought that I needed to break the mold of fixed ideas, and I had many thoughts of wanting to change my lifestyle and habits that I had lived with until now. Thanks to the helpers who assisted with the meditation and the teachers I was with, I feel like I can advance to Level 2.
