π Introduction
When dealing with severe depression and lethargy, seeking professional help is often the first step. Psychological counseling can be incredibly valuable for understanding the root cause of our pain and explaining why we feel the way we do. But what happens when you finally understand your trauma, only to be told that the pain won’t actually disappearβthat you simply have to “acknowledge it and live with it”? For many, this realization brings an even deeper sense of despair.
In this post, a 28-year-old woman shares her profound journey of seeking peace. Exhausted from feeling constantly chased by her own mind, she hit a wall when traditional methods told her to just accept her limits. However, through the practice of mind subtraction, she discovered that she didn’t have to live with the pain forever.
Read her powerful story to see how completely discarding the past can finally set you free.
π¬ Story: πββοΈ “A Mind Not Tied to the Past or Future”
By Seong Min-seon / Age 28 / Level 1
1. Motive for doing this meditation Living until now, I lived tormenting myself in various ways as if chased by something. After strongly feeling depression and lethargy, I received psychological counseling for a year, finding the cause of my pain and learning how to understand it.
“While seeking peace of mind, I fell into greater despair realizing that the pain didn’t disappear and I just had to acknowledge and live with it.”
I started this upon the recommendation of a friend who had been watching me.
2. What I felt while meditating I felt to my bones that I had unknowingly lived ‘negatively’, trapped in ‘my world’ and intoxicated by a fake version of myself. It became an opportunity to resolve that the present is important and that I shouldn’t be tied down by the past or the future.
In truth, I had lived mistakenly thinking my stubborn personality of not listening well to others was just me having clear convictions. Hating and being ashamed of myself for thinking that was truth, I shed many tears. I briefly thought it would have been easier if I hadn’t had such a mind since birth, but discarding even that mind, I definitely want to reach the final Level of this meditation.
3. What has changed Experiencing negative limits and making an ‘effort’ to overcome them was the biggest change. Until now, I had set my own lines saying “this is my limit” for all difficult things and gave up countless times. Although I can’t say it confidently yet because I haven’t reached a satisfying limit, I dare to say ‘effort’.
