ð Introduction
Many of us live our lives constantly adding to our minds. We pile up memories, stress, and emotions, unknowingly carrying a heavy burden that eventually manifests as physical and mental pain. We even hold onto painful experiences as if they were precious treasures. But what happens when we finally decide to let them go?
In this post, two individuals share their transformative experiences with mind subtraction. One discovered the physical and mental relief of dropping a lifelong burden, while the other uncovered hidden truths about herself that she never realized before.
Read their stories to see how emptying the mind can help you lighten your load and truly know yourself.
ðŽ Story 1: ðŠķ “Now That I Have Lightened the Heavy Burden, My Body and Mind Are Very Light”
By Anne / Age 57 / Level 1
Without knowing it was addition, I lived only doing addition of the mind. There are too many pictures in the album of the mind piled up inside. No one told me to carry it, but the burden I took on myself made my shoulders and lower back hurt. I encountered mind subtraction.
“It was not easy to uncover the memories I had hidden away like precious treasures to keep for a long, long time, bring them out, and discard my mind. They are painful and hard things, so why did I try to hold onto them… It seems it was attachment.”
The practice of pulling out the things that had been tangled and stuck inside me for a long, long time was painful for me. It hurt and I couldn’t focus so it didn’t progress well, but through repeated practice and the help of the teachers, it started to unravel, and now that I have lightened the heavy burden, my body and mind are very light. I am thankful for the method to subtract the mind.
- What I felt: I am deeply grateful for being able to self-reflect through repeated practice.
- What changed: An addict to adding the mind felt interest in subtracting the mind and became dedicated to it. A person who had been taking negative pictures in her mind, while discarding those pictures of the mind, caught herself trying to take that negative picture of the mind again in an instant, at some point, and is discarding it right away.
- Resolution: By discarding myself, a mass of pride, every moment, I intend to become a person who immediately discards my problems.
I thank the teachers who helped me, who am very lacking.

ðŽ Story 2: ð “I Learned New Things I Didn’t Know About Myself”
By Kwon Lime / Age 20 / Level 1
I encountered this meditation at my younger sister’s recommendation. At first, I participated in the University Student Camp, but perhaps because my conviction that I could discard my mind was lacking and I was woefully lacking, the universe mind didn’t clearly reveal itself. I constantly had questions about what was what and why I had to do this. However, the experiences of the assistants and instructors who helped with the practice personally proved the importance of this meditation, and I became curious about its end.
“Looking back on myself through the practice, I learned new things I didn’t know about myself, such as my desire to be acknowledged and my passive behavior.”
And as those many pictures were discarded one by one, I was so grateful to have encountered this meditation. I plan to continue doing this meditation in the future as well. I can confidently say that this meditation is an amazing method to escape from my mind world.
