πŸ“– Introduction

Many of us walk through life assuming we are doing just fine. We might point fingers at others for being cunning, while believing we are innocent. Or, we might be living under a heavy cloud of lethargy and depression without even realizing it, simply accepting that constant exhaustion is normal.

What happens when we finally take an objective look at ourselves?

In this post, two individuals share their surprising moments of self-discovery. Both started meditation without realizing how much they actually needed it. By taking an honest look back at their lives and discarding their hidden negativity, they discovered a profound joy and a body that suddenly felt as light as a feather.

Read their stories to see how waking up from your own blind spots can be the greatest blessing of your life.

πŸ’¬ Story 1: “I thought people like me didn’t need this meditation”

By Lee Tae-gyo / Age 41 / Level 1

Even the day before joining, on the way to the retreat, I thought, ‘Can I just not go? It won’t be a big deal even if I go. Still, it’s cheaper than a one-week overseas trip, so should I go?’ I usually tell others that the human mind is so cunning, but I realized that my own mind was even more cunning, second to none. I only realized this mind after meditating; I had lived pointing fingers at others while pretending I wasn’t like that.

Discarding the memories of my lived life wasn’t difficult, but I couldn’t remember well. As I discarded day by day, new facts were revealed. To the point where I thought, ‘I even remember things like this?’ It was the same meditation, but the emotions I felt were different every time. Crying, laughing, being happy, being angryβ€”a myriad of emotions crossed my mind.

At first, discarding the mind was only about discarding memories of my life, but later I started discarding my usual concepts about philosophy and religion, and I realized that my life, the life I had lived until now, was wrong, that I had thought wrongly.

“What has changed is that the world looks beautiful, and my body is as light as a feather, feeling like I could fly. I thought people like me didn’t need this meditation, but everyone needs this meditation.”

I encountered this meditation, and it was the greatest luck of my life. It is a blessing that cannot be exchanged for anything.

πŸ’¬ Story 2: “Emptying my mind, depression and lethargy disappeared”

By Anonymous / Age 30 / Level 7

In the past, I think I was very depressed and negative. However, I hadn’t even recognized the fact that I was a negative person living a depressed life. Meditating allowed me to look back on my life.

“Looking back on the life I had lived from an objective standpoint, I was able to discover the me who always thought negatively and always lived lethargically.”

Emptying my mind according to the guided method, the depressed and lethargic me, and the negatively thinking me disappeared, and my mind became comfortable. And I came to have a grateful heart for everything, and because I am always grateful, I am joyful and happy.
