A professor speaking and sharing insights at the 1st Meditation Camp for University Professors

Welcome back to the Santa Clara Meditation blog! 🌱

Today, we are thrilled to share the inspiring story of the 1st Meditation Camp for University Professors, a special event dedicated to helping educators find true inner peace and the highest value within themselves.

☁️ A Journey to Find the Highest Value

The 1st Meditation Camp for University Professors (hereafter referred to as the Professor Meditation Camp) was held as a rejuvenating 2-day, 1-night program on December 7–8 at the training center in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province.

Held under the theme ‘Encounter the Highest Value,’ the camp was hosted by the Academic Society for Human Completion (President Lee Deok-ju, Professor Emeritus at KAIST). This society has been deeply engaged in researching academic inquiries and practical methods of human completion education based on meditation.

🌱 Meet and Greet: Welcoming Educators from Across the Country

The camp program, which began around 1:30 PM on Saturday, opened with a warm meet-and-greet session. University professors from all over the country, including Seoul and Busan, relieved their fatigue from long journeys and exchanged joyful greetings over refreshments.

πŸ’‘ The Power of Mind Subtraction Meditation

The 2-day, 1-night schedule was thoughtfully centered around the understanding and practice of Mind Subtraction meditation. The program included:

  • Group mind sharing
  • 1-on-1 meditation coaching
  • Stretching gymnastics
  • A special vocalization lecture
  • Outdoor meditation

In particular, aside from the meditation experts who guided the group sessions and 1-on-1 coaching, professors from the Academic Society for Human Completion who had completed the entire Mind Subtraction meditation course and acquired meditation instructor qualifications served as group helpers. They assisted participants in entering meditation more easily and comfortably! ☁️

During the wrap-up session on the second day, participants were treated to a beautiful performance by specially invited oboist Shin Ji-hye (Accompaniment: Kook Ji-eun). This, along with a choir direction session by Professor Yoo Ji-hoon (Kyung Hee University), who gave the vocalization lecture on the first day, provided another wonderful source of joy.

🌻 Inspiring Participant Reviews

Participants who completed the schedule left deeply moving reviews:

“It was the first time in my life that I faced myself and thought about who I am. Going forward, I want to subtract my distorted self and find my true nature that must be somewhere inside me.”

“Even though I only did it for one day, I feel my body has become much lighter. I recently had an uncomfortable mind, and I’m grateful it has lightened significantly.”

“I dare say that ‘discarding myself’ is better than countless academic disciplines. It was a great time to organize myself.”

✨ A Vision for the Future

President Lee Deok-ju stated:

“Although the Academic Society for Human Completion has conducted various meditation education programs over the past 10 years, including school meditation education as well as over 200 teacher and parent meditation training sessions, this is the first time we have held a meditation camp for professors.

In an era of transition like today, the role of universities and university professors is even more crucial. We must maintain our foundation while leading change. I hope that the professors, who are balancing education and research under difficult conditions, find the inner nature that is the foundation of us all, and achieve an even greater vision and happiness in the future.”

We hope this camp serves as a beautiful stepping stone for professors to continue guiding future generations with a clear and peaceful mind! 🌱
