What is religion?
Religion is following someone’s teachings. Religion has had a tremendous psychological influence on people. Although it has helped people in some ways, it has also been a source of loss. For example, because people are blind to Truth they began to discriminate against other religions which, among other things, led to religious wars. Religion is about blind faith, but in reality there is no meaning in blind faith. Religion must have Truth – one must seek and practice Truth along with faith.
Something has gone wrong when people become more attached to supposed miracles while Truth takes a backseat. Truth does not reside in miracles or wonders; it resides in nature’s flow.
Anything that is not true is completely false. Religions spoke to people about the existence of God, and although this has helped people, Truth does not dwell in words. Neither can it be found in books or scriptures. There have been many saints in the world; they were sent by heaven during different points in history depending on changes in social conditions. But their heroic values and actions often became exaggerated as people embellished the miracles and mysteries attributed to the saints. Moreover, there are many different interpretations of their words and actions because no one had the inner eyes to be able to correctly interpret them. Inner eyes refers to the mind’s eyes and if people’s minds’ eyes have not opened, their interpretations of Truth are bound to differ. In many cases, these interpretations are not Truth and become the cause behind religions splitting off into new denominations and sects.
Religions in the time before the coming of Truth were not perfect; people in different religions fought because they did not know that Truth is one and the same. Now, the way to great enlightenment has opened. All people are one, and therefore everyone around us, the entire world, will become one. Religions will also unite in the future and the world will finally become a peaceful place. All people will live equal lives and all will receive salvation.
