📖 Introduction
Sometimes the people who appear the smartest, strongest, or most rational on the outside may quietly carry tension, pressure, pride, insecurity, and emotional burdens inside.
And sometimes, the biggest changes are not visible through achievements or success — but through warmth, calmness, humility, and the way someone treats others.
This heartfelt meditation testimonial shares the story of Geon P., who watched his longtime friend Ji Hoon transform completely through meditation.
Ji Hoon was once known as an exceptionally intelligent but cold and harsh student who trusted only logic, facts, and his own understanding.
But over time, something about him changed.
He became calmer.
Warmer.
More considerate.
More peaceful.
That unexpected transformation eventually led Geon P. himself to meditation during a difficult period of uncertainty, anxiety, and emotional struggle.
Through meditation and learning how to let go of fear, insecurity, and endless thoughts, he gradually discovered peace, acceptance, gratitude, and a completely new understanding of life.
This inspiring meditation testimonial beautifully shows how inner change can transform not only ourselves, but also the people around us.
💬 Meditation Testimonial: “Wait… He Wasn’t Like This Before”
By Geon P. | Office Worker
My friend Ji Hoon, whom I met during my first year of high school, was honestly awkward and clumsy at almost everything he did.
But whenever exam season arrived, everything completely changed.
He displayed unbelievable concentration, constantly competing for first or second place in the class.
He also won awards at national math and science competitions.
Naturally, he became both admired and envied by classmates.
Ji Hoon was the type of person who only accepted something after logically understanding it and verifying it personally.
And if classmates asked him about difficult problems, he would often coldly reply:
“How can you not know something this simple?”
Because of that, people often responded sarcastically:
“Yeah, yeah, we know you’re smart.”
🌱 “That Strict, Rational Guy Is Practicing Meditation?”
Around our second year of college, I started noticing changes in Ji Hoon.
Back in high school, he always seemed tense and unhealthy somehow.
But suddenly, he had become calm and gentle.
He even started buying meals for friends and helping people choose clothes.
I remember thinking:
“Wait…
He was never this warm-hearted before.”
But the thing that shocked me most was hearing that someone so scientific and rational — someone who trusted only logic and facts — had started practicing meditation.
Ji Hoon seriously told me:
“I realized that what I know might not always be correct.”
Hearing someone like him openly talk about the mind felt incredibly strange and fascinating to me.
After that, I often went to him for advice.
Even after finishing military service, when I felt lost and uncertain about my future, I eventually opened up to Ji Hoon about something deeply personal.
Because of painful memories from being harshly scolded by my parents while growing up, I struggled terribly whenever I faced important decisions.
I constantly doubted myself and became trapped by anxiety and hesitation.
And at that moment, the one thing recommended by Ji Hoon — someone who would never recommend anything lightly unless he truly believed in it — was this meditation.
🌿 Just Knowing There Was a Way to Discard the Mind Felt Like Salvation
At that point in my life, I was suffering so much that simply hearing there was a way to discard the mind already felt comforting.
So I practiced meditation sincerely and wholeheartedly.
And within only two or three days, I could already feel painful emotions beginning to disappear.
Looking back now, I realize I had lived an incredibly tense and exhausting life.
I constantly struggled to force the world and circumstances to follow my own will.
But life never unfolds that easily.
In this vast and infinite world, I was merely a tiny existence desperately trying to control seventy or eighty years of life through sheer force and anxiety.
As I practiced meditation and discarded my timidness, insecurity, and endless distracting thoughts, I gradually developed the ability to simply accept situations as they are and sincerely focus on what was in front of me.
And eventually, I also came to understand something important about Ji Hoon.
He was never someone who casually relied on talent while taking life easily.
He had always focused intensely, worked sincerely, and genuinely enjoyed what he was doing within the circumstances given to him.
That was why he could display such incredible ability at important moments.
But back then, I only envied him and thought bitterly:
“He just relies on being smart and takes everything easily.”
Now, honestly, I feel embarrassed about those thoughts.
And more than anything…
I feel sorry, my friend.
✨ Happiness Comes From Giving Your Best
No matter how carefully we plan our lives, things rarely unfold exactly as we expect.
Results naturally follow only when we sincerely give our best within the conditions already placed before us.
And perhaps true happiness comes from feeling gratitude for those results.
I sincerely want to thank this meditation, which taught me the most basic and universal truths of life.
And I also sincerely thank my friend Ji Hoon, who introduced me to it.
