π Introduction
When life becomes painful, our natural instinct is to bury the hard times. We build thick defense mechanisms to protect ourselves from getting hurt again. But behind those walls, we often end up living a highly curated, stressful lifeβpretending to be kind for the eyes of others, while secretly harboring deep selfish motives and exhausting obsessions over money or relationships. When things go wrong, it is so easy to blame our upbringing, our parents, or the people who “made us suffer.” We convince ourselves that we are the victims. But what happens when you finally strip away the act, face your hidden selfishness, and discover who you truly are?
In this post, two young adults share the profound, liberating relief of honest self-reflection. A 28-year-old explains how looking back at buried pain wasn’t just healing, but actually became a fun and comforting journey to finding their true self. Meanwhile, a 26-year-old shares a tearful, deeply moving realization: the agonizing clashes in her life weren’t caused by bad parents or bad people, but by her own deeply selfish illusions and obsessions.
Read their inspiring stories to see how mind subtraction can tear down your defense mechanisms, clear your obsessions, and bring you fascinating comfort.
π¬ Story 1: πΏ “The Process of Discovering the True Self Is Fun”
By se6233 / Age 28 / Level 1
Participating in Level 1 of this meditation this time, I experienced various things. I happened to read a booklet on this meditation by chance and participated in the Level 1 meditation thinking lightly that I was on vacation. When I actually participated, it was very unfamiliar, but it became a good opportunity to look back on my mind about myself, which I usually hadn’t examined.
“Whenever I went through hard times, it was so painful that I tended to forget and bury them as a defense mechanism, but as I kept discovering them during the process of discarding the mind pictures, I also reflected and comforted myself, thinking, ‘I was in this state.’ ‘I lived like this.'”
Although the process of discovering the true self while discarding might be slow and sluggish, I tried to sincerely feel and experience that process. Of course, as the number of times I looked back on my lived life increased and the speed of looking back went up, it was also fun.
Although I couldn’t complete Level 1 or discard many mind pictures, it was good to have a unique and good experience that is hard to experience while living life. It was good to get good people, good energy, and good memories. I hope everyone wraps up their meditation well until the remaining time. Fighting!

π¬ Story 2: π§ “I Was Ashamed of the Selfish Me Who Had Never Once Lived for Others”
By Oksu Jeon / Age 26 / Level 1
I made up my mind at my mother’s recommendation, and perhaps that’s why this week was special. In the helper’s lecture, they said that the things I felt were hard, worried, and agonized over were just illusions existing only in my mind, and I couldn’t have felt more empty and vain. As I discarded, discarded, and discarded, the fact that all of this was an illusion and fake made me even cry tears of sorrow for the time I had wasted. I felt it was fake, but I couldn’t discard my obsession with money and the person I loved. But during the lecture, the helper pointed out everything I was obsessed with, and at that moment, the obsessions I couldn’t let go of were released, and all those things were easily discarded.
“Then, looking back at my past life, there truly is no human as dirty and ugly as this. I have truly never lived for others even once, and I have lived entirely thinking only of myself. I lived putting on all sorts of acts, worrying about how I would look in others’ eyes…”
I felt ashamed and thought that all the clashes with people during that time happened because of selfish me. Even the things I said I did for my parents were just for myself in case something happened, and for the eyes of others. Pretending to be kind to look good to others, I felt I was the culprit of all problems, and I even felt pitiful for myself who said I was struggling with those minds. With that thought, I discarded and discarded, saying let’s discard all of me.
The mind was fascinating. To think it could become this comfortable.
“In the past, I thought if I had been born under good parents, I wouldn’t have suffered like this, but now I think they are parents who suffer until old age because they have a child like me and I couldn’t become a successful child. I thought the people who harbored bad minds and made me suffer were the problem, but I feel that’s all my fault, and I felt sorry and wrong to the people I made suffer and hated.”
Looking back at this meditation now, it seems this meditation is a study where discarding oneself is everything. I sincerely thank my mother who introduced me to this meditation, and I want to live happily through consistent meditation.
