π Introduction
Many of us live our entire lives deeply entangled in our own minds, carrying heavily accumulated burdens of attachment, hatred, anger, and fear. Whether it is the immense pressure and stress of studying as a student or the deep-seated prejudices we hold against others, these negative thoughts often dictate our reality. We try so hard to succeed and survive, without ever realizing that the world we are struggling against is actually an illusion created by our own remembered thoughts. But what happens when you finally see this illusion for what it is and let it go?
In this post, two practitioners share their profound realizations through mind subtraction meditation. A 54-year-old shares the shocking but liberating experience of seeing their true reflection, allowing them to step away from past attachments and anger to treat loved ones with genuine warmth. Meanwhile, a 17-year-old student describes how the overwhelming fear and stress of academics completely vanished once they realized their current self was simply an illusion, leading to a peaceful mind and improved focus.
Read their inspiring stories to see how discarding your mind’s illusions can eliminate academic stress, erase negativity, and allow you to live a lighter, more generous life.
π¬ Story 1: β¨ “It Was Truly Great to Have an Opportunity to See My Own Reflection”
By Lim Gil-bin / Age 54 / Level 1 / Incheon
I was truly shocked that the world I had lived in, trying so hard all this time, was a world of illusions inside my mind. I thank the teacher who allowed me to have an unimaginable experience that seemed possible only in a dream.
As I live in the world from now on, I will step away a little from my past attachments, hatred, and anger, and live treating the precious people by my side a bit more softly and generously, with more smiles.
It was truly great to have an opportunity to see the reflection of myself that I hadn’t been able to see until now. Thank you.

π¬ Story 2: π “Academic Stress, Fear, Prejudice, and Negative Thoughts Disappeared”
By NicknameUSPresident / Age 17 / Level 1 / Banseok, Daejeon
Meditating and realizing that the current me is an illusion living in my mind world, and discarding the remembered thoughts of the life I’ve lived, my mind seems to have become peaceful. At first, I really couldn’t understand why I was an illusion. Listening to the lectures and discarding, I realized that this is this and that is that.
The changes while meditating are that the tremendous fear and stress about studying have disappeared, and my prejudices against people seem to have vanished too. And the foot dance (health dance) which I was initially embarrassed about and didn’t know why we were doing it, I found myself doing naturally without embarrassment a few days later. I also discarded my personality and negative thoughts so they are gone, and I discarded the me who sleeps a lot, so I seem to sleep much less than before.
My advanced studying progress is much slower than my friends, and I didn’t want to come here because I wanted to study hard and do well, but I don’t think I regret it. I expect to diligently do the mind subtraction even after this.
