🛤️ When Success Doesn’t Equal Happiness
Have you ever looked at your life on paper and thought, “I have achieved everything I set out to do, so why do I still feel so empty?”
It is a surprisingly common experience. We spend our lives chasing goals, promotions, and the approval of others, only to realize that external success doesn’t automatically grant us internal peace. At Santa Clara Meditation, we see many people arrive at this exact crossroads, seeking a way to finally clear the noise and find genuine happiness.
Today, we want to take you inside a recent weekend retreat where this exact realization became the turning point for several participants. 🌿
🏕️ A Weekend to Unwind: The Open Course
Recently, the 2nd ‘Self-Reflection: Mind Subtraction’ Open Course was held for a transformative 2 days and 1 night.
The Open Course is a special weekend Ma-eum Su-ryun program designed specifically for the general public and working professionals. We know how difficult it is to find free time during the hectic weekdays. This course is a dedicated time prepared so that busy individuals can finally hit “pause” and use their weekend to experience the profound relief of the Mind Subtraction method.
💬 The Shared Revelation
As we wrapped up the 2-day/1-night program, we gathered for a heartfelt session where participants shared their thoughts, feelings, and the shifts they experienced during the Open Course.
Three people stood up to share their deep reflections, and fascinatingly, they all echoed one powerful sentiment:
“Even though I had achieved so much that people around me envied me, deep inside, I had never once been happy.”
It is a heavy realization, but acknowledging it is the very first step toward true freedom. By stepping away from their daily routines and looking inward, these participants were finally able to subtract the heavy expectations and false standards that had been weighing them down for years.
Among them was the deeply moving story of Ms. Yang So-young (43 years old, Daejeon), who found the courage to finally say, “Now, I am about to take the first step for myself.”

If you are feeling weighed down by the demands of life and are ready to take that first step for yourself, we invite you to discover the power of letting go at Santa Clara Meditation. Your true happiness is waiting underneath the clutter. 🌟
