A supportive meditation class providing stress relief and healing for the families and caregivers of dementia patients

Welcome to Santa Clara Meditation! 🌿 Caring for a family member with dementia is an act of profound love, but it can also be emotionally and physically exhausting. Recognizing the severe stress and burnout often faced by caregivers, public health initiatives are increasingly focusing on supporting their mental well-being.

In this post, we share heartwarming news about a special meditation-centered initiative hosted by the Daegu Seo-gu Public Health Center. Discover how the ‘Hearim’ program is utilizing Mind Subtraction meditation to provide deep healing and stress relief for the families of dementia patients! 🌻

Professor Kim Mi-han (Department of Nursing at Kyungil University, Director of the Academic Committee) participated as an instructor and led a meditation program for the meditation-centered ‘Hearim’ program, supported by the Daegu Seo-gu Public Health Center for the families of dementia patients. 👩‍🏫

This class for the families of dementia patients was designed to help them become healthier and happier by providing knowledge about dementia along with stress relief methods for those caring for dementia patients. 🤝

The program, which ran for two months with 8 sessions held once a week from September 10 to October 29, consisted of general knowledge education for dementia patient management, as well as a dedicated family healing program.

Program Breakdown:

  • Session 1: A proper understanding of dementia 🧠
  • Session 2: Psychiatric and behavioral symptoms 📉
  • Session 3: Dementia diagnosis and management 📋
  • Sessions 4–8: Mind Subtraction meditation program operated as a family healing program for the mental health of the patients’ families. 🧘‍♀️

Professor Kim Mi-han served as an instructor for the 4th, 5th, and 8th sessions, lecturing on the principles of the mind and guiding the Mind Subtraction meditation practice. Furthermore, in the 6th and 7th sessions, Hong Geun-hee, a meditation instructor affiliated with the Academic Society for Human Completion, participated as an instructor to guide the meditation practice. 🕊️
