📖 Introduction

Have you ever felt as though your mind were a tangled ball of yarn, filled with worries, regrets, and complicated emotions that seem impossible to untangle? Perhaps you struggle with difficult relationships, criticize yourself for being unproductive, or constantly replay past experiences in your head. The more you try to sort everything out, the more tangled your thoughts seem to become.

Sometimes, even the thought of changing ourselves feels overwhelming. We begin something new with good intentions, only to feel discouraged when the process becomes uncomfortable or demanding. But what happens when we push through that initial resistance and begin to see our lives from a completely different perspective?

In this honest meditation testimonial, a 24-year-old practitioner shares the challenges and discoveries of practicing mind subtraction meditation. Initially overwhelmed by the demanding schedule and tempted to give up, this young adult gradually discovered the value of looking back on past experiences and letting go of accumulated thoughts. What once felt like a hopelessly tangled mind began to unravel, bringing a refreshing sense of emotional relief.

Read this inspiring story to discover how self-reflection and mind subtraction can help you release complicated thoughts, find greater peace in relationships, and experience a lighter, clearer mind.

💬 Story: 🪢 “Feeling Like a Complexly Tangled Skein of Thread Is Unraveling Little by Little”

By Lee Hee-gyo / Age 24 / Level 1

Being able to look back on myself while meditating was the most helpful thing. I usually had a lot of worries about human relationships or my lazy attitude towards life, but realizing that all of this is just false pictures of the mind made me feel much more at ease.

The first Saturday and Sunday were really hard. Spending the whole day sitting down on a schedule harder than the military made me feel like I came for nothing, and I was going crazy wanting to go home. However, as time passed, I had many thoughts, and I resolved to do it properly since I had already paid and started the week.

“When I started subtracting my mind, I felt like a complex and tangled skein of thread was unraveling little by little.”

I felt regret thinking, “Ah, I lived like this,” and sometimes a smile naturally formed at happy memories. Later, as I emptied my head by subtracting all those minds as well, I felt refreshed.

I thought subtraction meditation is really necessary for people. However, personally, I wondered what it would be like to create a preliminary course before Level 1 so that it could resonate more. Also, I thought it would be nice to loosen the schedule a little.

The best thing was that everyone’s impressions were really bright. People exhausted from busy daily lives and human relationships will receive great healing if they come and meditate.

🌱 NEXT STEPS: Untangle Your Thoughts and Discover a Lighter Mind

Do you feel overwhelmed by complicated relationships, endless worries, or negative thoughts about yourself? When our minds become crowded with memories, judgments, and emotional burdens, even simple daily experiences can feel exhausting.

Mind subtraction meditation provides a structured opportunity to reflect on the mental pictures accumulated throughout life and practice letting them go. Rather than endlessly analyzing every worry, you can begin to recognize how your past experiences influence your present thoughts and reactions.

As Lee Hee-gyo’s experience shows, the process may require patience and persistence. Yet even a difficult beginning can become an opportunity for meaningful self-discovery.

You don’t have to untangle every thought by struggling with it. Sometimes, learning to let go is the beginning of discovering a clearer, more peaceful mind.
