đź“– Introduction

Have you ever wondered why you react to certain situations with intense anxiety, or why you desperately seek validation from others? Often, the emotional struggles we face today—like a fear of change, an obsession with being loved, or overwhelming stress—are rooted in forgotten childhood memories and deeply ingrained pride. We spend our lives trying to look successful and put-together, not realizing that this very effort is what makes us feel trapped. But what if you could uncover the exact cause of your heavy mind and finally let it go?

In this post, two practitioners share how mind subtraction meditation helped them uncover their hidden burdens and taste true freedom. A 23-year-old shares a touching realization of how a forgotten kindergarten memory was the root of her fear of change and obsession with being loved, leading her to finally approach relationships without expectations. Meanwhile, a 63-year-old reflects on how a life she thought was lived “without a speck of shame” was actually driven by greed and pride, and how discarding that old self brought her unimaginable freedom.

Read their inspiring stories to discover how finding the root cause of your thoughts and emptying your mind can bring profound healing and true liberation.

💬 Story 1: “Finding out the cause from which my current mind originated”

By Hello / Age 23 / Level 1

When I first went to kindergarten as a child, I cried a lot seeing my mom’s back as she walked away. However, when I recalled that memory while meditating, I suddenly choked up and tears flowed.

“I realized that even at this age, an unconscious mind of wanting to rely on my parents remained, and the mind of fearing change also stemmed from there.”

I lived always conscious of my surroundings, but I learned that I had never actually loved anyone sincerely. However, conversely, I realized that my desire to be loved by others was so huge that it had become an obsession. That’s why I learned that I had struggled a lot. In my mind, there was neither others nor myself. My apologetic feeling toward my family grew, and I will now live letting go of everything. I made a resolution that I will now approach others without expectations.

💬 Story 2: “It is great freedom after discarding myself”

By Rinhuin / Age 63 / Level 2

I am thankful for the meditation method. I even told someone that I had lived firmly and well enough, that I had lived without a single speck of shame before the heavens. But as I kept looking back on my lived life, I realized it was my fault that I spent so much time in pain and stress due to my own pride, that my youth slipped away because of people who didn’t take responsibility and live properly, and that the years full of resentment and hatred when my life rotted away entirely like a rotting part of an apple were my fault.

“From my greed… The years I spent enduring because I wanted to look good to others and appear successful were my greed. It is such great freedom after discarding the old self.”
