π Introduction
Many of us go through life wearing an invisible mask. We might try to appear as the perfect, “nice” person on the outside, while secretly harboring jealousy, anger, or resentment on the inside. Or, we might spend years engaging in various practices, only to realize we are still trapped in our own illusions and negative thoughts, never truly knowing how to empty them.
In this post, two individuals from different generations share their striking realizations about the “fake” lives they had been living. By learning a practical method to discard their accumulated minds, they were finally able to drop their masks, clear away deep-seated negativity, and meet their true selves.
Read their stories to discover the incredible relief and confidence that comes from no longer having to fake it.
π¬ Story 1: “I thought there must be something to it.”
By Sookja Lee / Age 61 / Level 1
At first, I didn’t believe it and came with doubts, unsure if it was real. But since my youngest sibling had been staying and meditating for 9 months, I figured there must be something to it. I am truly thankful and grateful. To everyone and to my sibling. It was a definite time for me to look back on myself.
“I think I clearly realized that I have been living too much in an illusion all this time.”
Resentment, anger, and distrust. Looking back, my entire life was a mass of negativity. I feel like this is the only path I must take. I want to completely discard all the pictures of the false minds I lived with and find my true mind by continuously discarding, discarding, and emptying.
I realized that I am the universe, but since it’s only a brief taste, I feel I must finish the process to the end. During my religious life, I talked about discarding and emptying, but I don’t think that was the method. This is the only way. Because they guide us so easily and well, it feels less difficult. I want to go all the way to the end. I want to come back from the US and do it again.

π¬ Story 2: “I realized I had been packaging myself as a kind and good person.”
By Minji Seo / Age 24 / Level 1
The biggest change since I started meditating is that the anger, annoyance, and worries I had always carried in my heart disappeared. Whenever I got angry or hurt, I would dwell on it for a long time, unable to control my rage and sadness. However, as I repeatedly brought up those memories and discarded those minds through meditation, I eventually found myself able to brush them off calmly without any emotion (like anger or sadness) even if the memory suddenly came to mind. Also, I often hear from people around me that I am kind, and I too thought I was kinder and more considerate than others.
However, I realized that I had been packaging myself to hide nasty emotions like jealousy, hatred, and envy, all because I wanted the people around me to keep seeing me as a kind and good person.
“During the short period of a week, I eliminated the mass of mind that I had suppressed and held back because I didn’t know how to discard itβeven though I had wanted to so badly throughout my life.”
Now, I feel amazed and unfamiliar with myself. I am now confident that I can live my life differently than before. I am also so grateful to my mom, who sent me to this meditation with my younger sibling.
