π Introduction
Maintaining a flawless image is an incredibly heavy burden. When we spend our lives pretending to be noble, knowledgeable, and holy, we naturally start judging and comparing everyone else to our own impossible standards. We think we are protecting ourselves or commanding respect, but in reality, this constant performance traps us in a mental prison and exhausts the people we love the most.
In this post, a 47-year-old practitioner shares a remarkably raw and honest confession about living behind a mask. Realizing that her lifelong habit of strict perfectionism and dictating the world by her own standards was actually ruining her life, she finally surrendered to the practice of mind subtraction.
Read her powerful story to see what happens when you finally drop the exhausting act and escape the hell of your own mind.
π¬ Story: π “Pretending to Be Noble, Pretending to Be Knowledgeable, I Truly Made Things Hard for the People Around Me”
By Green Love / Age 47 / Level 3
I thought that practicing was very difficult. Every time I sat in the meditation room to practice, I thought, ‘This is really not an easy task.’ That it is not an easy process for the body or the mind. But at some point, as I followed everything according to the method with an earnest mind, it began to feel a bit easier and more comfortable.
I realized that the thought and habit I lived with my whole lifeβnot doing anything sloppily even in the slightestβwas something I was still doing while practicing this. I just surrendered completely, looked back on my life, reflected, and repented. There wasn’t a single thing I had lived doing properly. I realized that the things that happened in the world were my mind world.
“Opening my eyes only to judge, compare, pretend to know, and pretend to be great, dictating the world as this or that by my own standardsβI realize that this ‘me’ ultimately prevented me from living even my own life exactly as it was originally given, locking me inside the hell of my own mind.”
That I created the hell myself. Pretending to be noble, pretending to be knowledgeable, pretending to be holy, putting on all sorts of acts, I realized I truly made things hard for the people around me.
I realized that ultimately, every level is about denying and negating this me, which is a lump of pretense and falsehood itself, and discarding all these minds, and that is everything. I am truly ashamed. To discard all these minds, I will do this study until the final level.
