💡 INTRODUCTION
📜 In Korean tradition, gesong (게송, 偈頌) refers to a written expression of enlightenment. According to Master Woo Myung, gesong is not simply poetry or philosophy—it is the living voice of enlightenment expressed in words.
✨ True gesong comes from the heart, not from the knowledge of the head. It reflects the place of one’s mind and allows others to see whether the writer has truly attained enlightenment.
🌱 While some gesong may be difficult for ordinary people to understand, the most profound and genuine gesong are those that are simple, clear, and allow people to gain enlightenment through understanding.

📝 ORIGINAL WRITING BY MASTER WOO MYUNG
What Is Gesong?
Gesong is a written expression of one’s enlightenment.
Gesong resides in the enlightenment,
and the enlightenment resides in the gesong.
One can know by reading gesong
whether or not the writer has been enlightened,
because gesong is a writing from the heart.
Only when it is written from the heart is it a true gesong;
it cannot be called that when it is written from the knowledge of one’s head.
It is possible to know the place of a person’s mind through his gesong,
but usually it does not give enlightenment to ordinary people
because people find them difficult to understand.
The best or most well-written words
are those that people can easily understand,
therefore the best gesong is one
that everyone can understand and gain enlightenment from.
