📖 Introduction
Have you ever noticed how your mood dictates the way you see the world? When we are weighed down by childhood pain, rigid habits, or a sharp personality, everything around us can look bleak and difficult. We view our lives through the “sunglasses” of our own accumulated minds. But what happens when you finally take those sunglasses off and challenge the concepts you’ve always believed to be true?
In this post, two practitioners share how mind subtraction meditation allowed them to break free from their false minds and see the world completely anew. A 46-year-old shares how discarding her deeply ingrained childhood pain and sharp personality brought her profound peace, allowing her to suddenly see everything as beautiful. Meanwhile, a 35-year-old discusses how she fought her own rigid concept about needing sleep, pushing past her limits to discover a clear mind and overwhelming gratitude.
Read their inspiring stories to discover how emptying the mind and challenging your own concepts can bring profound peace and a beautiful new perspective on life.
💬 Story 1: “My mind has become so peaceful”
By Park Il-soon / Age 46 / Level 1
The motive for me coming to this meditation was my younger sibling’s recommendation. Spending day after day in the training course, I was able to notice changes in my mind that I had never felt before. Minds where everything was created and judged in the mind, judged arbitrarily, I now come to think of those minds in reverse.
After changing bad things into good things, everything I saw suddenly looked beautiful. As the instructor said, denying myself hundreds and thousands of times here and looking back on the false world, I sometimes shed tears. The pain from my childhood couldn’t be erased from my memory, and the life I lived couldn’t be erased until now, and the sharpness of my personality would show in suddenly remembered pasts.
“But while meditating, thinking that all of this is false made me laugh. My real mind has become so peaceful.”
Thank you. After realizing that what the eyes see looks different depending on the mind you hold, seeing bad things as good things, there is nothing more joyful than this. Thinking about the remaining time and this precious time, I just feel sad it’s ending. Thank you.

💬 Story 2: “A fight with myself, and the world seen anew”
By Shin Ji-eun / Age 35 / Level 1
When I first came to practice, I sought out the Main Center to become comfortable and get better. But hearing the head guide say in a lecture that we need to try fighting ourselves, I thought I should break my own concept that I usually sleep a lot and if I don’t sleep, I’ll be tired tomorrow.
So from Monday, I stayed up and practiced until 2 AM, 4:30 AM, or even 5:30 AM without sleeping. On the first day, the desire to give up arose, but I forced myself to discard that sleep and was able to escape from sleep. The amazing thing was that the next day I wasn’t even sleepy, and my mind was clearer and lighter.
“During the final practice session, tears came out after I realized my true nature. I was always vague about true nature, but realizing it with my mind made me so happy. The world I saw after taking off the sunglasses of my mind for the first time was truly gratitude itself.”
I am thankful for this method, and it was such a meaningful and grateful time.
