📖 Introduction

Have you ever felt resistant to trying something new, especially when pushed by someone else? Or perhaps you just feel overwhelmed by the endless stray thoughts of daily life and desperately need an escape. Often, we don’t realize that the stress, sadness, and even the fear we experience are simply products of our own subjective minds. When we step away from our routines and begin to let go of those accumulated thoughts, the relief can be surprisingly profound.

In this post, two practitioners share how mind subtraction meditation brought them unexpected lightness and peace. A 47-year-old shares how she started meditating purely out of coercion from her husband, only to discover a profound comfort that made her realize she had been creating her own suffering all along. Meanwhile, a 24-year-old discusses how escaping daily life to meditate in a nature-filled environment helped her discard endless stray thoughts, ultimately lightening her mind and reducing her fear of death.

Read their inspiring stories to discover how stepping away from your routine and emptying your mind can lead to unexpected comfort and true inner freedom.

💬 Story 1: “It’s this comfortable, so what kind of mind will I have if I finish up to Level 7?”

By geeny / Age 47 / Level 1

What I liked while meditating was that my mind became comfortable. I started because of my husband’s coercion. I really didn’t have even a 1% desire to do it. I didn’t want to do it, didn’t know why I had to do it, and really hated my husband telling me to do it. But doing this meditation, I felt my mind becoming somewhat comfortable, and looking back on the life I had lived, I realized I had truly thought and judged everything according to my own mind.

“Even though there wasn’t a single hard thing, I thought it was hard, hated, felt sad, and suffered. Honestly, I don’t think I practiced diligently and sincerely. Even so, it’s this comfortable.”

What would have happened if I had truly done this meditation sincerely? If I finish up to Level 7, what kind of mind will I have? I have these thoughts.

💬 Story 2: “Discarding various thoughts in a place blended with nature”

By Molly / Age 24 / Level 1

Getting away from daily life and being in a place blended with nature made me feel good. I was satisfied with the intensive practice of discarding the endless stray thoughts I had. All the teachers were kind, and it was nice to see their passion, which helped a lot in practicing.

“As I discard various thoughts in the process of practicing, I feel like my body and mind are becoming lighter. And by continually subtracting, it seems I am gradually discarding the fear I had about death.”

It was good to be able to do things I couldn’t experience elsewhere.
