📖 Introduction

Have you ever felt that life was unfair, as though the world continually placed you in situations you didn’t deserve? When things don’t go according to our expectations, it’s easy to blame our circumstances, other people, or the environment around us. Over time, these feelings of resentment can become deeply rooted, leaving us frustrated, discouraged, and unable to see a hopeful future.

But what happens when we begin to question the way we perceive our experiences? What if some of the emotional suffering we carry is connected not only to what happened to us, but also to the thoughts, judgments, and mental pictures we’ve accumulated throughout our lives?

In this heartfelt meditation testimonial, a 21-year-old practitioner shares a profound shift in perspective through mind subtraction meditation. Having spent years resenting unfavorable situations and blaming the world, she began to reflect on how her own thoughts influenced her experiences and relationships. This realization brought feelings of repentance and gratitude, along with a renewed sense of responsibility for how she lived.

Although the meditation process was challenging, discovering that deeply ingrained negative thoughts could be examined and discarded gave her something she had been missing: hope for a different future.

Read her inspiring story to discover how letting go of resentment, reflecting on your own mind, and embracing personal responsibility can open the door to greater inner freedom and a more hopeful outlook on life.

💬 Story: 🌱 “Hope Has Emerged in My Life”

By Lee Seo-yun / Age 21 / Level 1

I had always thought that the minds I consumed throughout my life ended within my own mind, but I learned how much damage these minds were causing to the world and to those people. That realization becomes my repentance, and I am also grateful.

Among all the events that occurred in the life I lived, whenever situations weren’t to my liking, I resented those situations and the world that gave me such environments.

“I was able to acknowledge that it was only natural for such situations to be created because they all originated from me.”

The fact that everything came from me and was created by me was something I couldn’t have even imagined before. It is an honor to realize in my heart such an important and magnificent principle of the world in life.

“Knowing that these minds I hold are merely fake minds I consumed, hope has emerged in my life.”

And I am grateful that there is a method to eliminate this fake mind.

It was very difficult while practicing, but I feel I can overcome this as well and move forward.

Thank you.

🌱 NEXT STEPS: Release Resentment and Rediscover Hope

Do you find yourself repeatedly blaming difficult circumstances, regretting past experiences, or feeling that life has treated you unfairly? When resentment becomes a familiar response to disappointment, it can influence how we see ourselves, our relationships, and our future.

Mind subtraction meditation provides a structured opportunity to look back on the mental pictures accumulated throughout life and practice letting them go. Through self-reflection, you can begin to examine the thoughts and emotional reactions that shape your interpretation of everyday experiences.

As Lee Seo-yun’s testimony illustrates, recognizing one’s own patterns can sometimes be uncomfortable. However, taking responsibility for our reactions does not mean blaming ourselves for every hardship. Instead, it can help us identify what lies within our ability to change.

Her experience reminds us that meaningful personal growth does not always come easily. Even when meditation feels difficult, the possibility of releasing old mental burdens can inspire the courage to continue.

You cannot always control what happens around you, but you can begin changing how you respond to it. Sometimes, that realization is where hope begins.
