📖 Introduction

Have you ever wondered how much of yourself you truly understand? We spend our lives observing the world around us, forming opinions about others, and reacting to situations based on our experiences. Yet we rarely stop to question the thoughts and memories that shape how we see reality. Without realizing it, we may become trapped in our own perspectives, unable to recognize the habits, judgments, and emotional burdens that influence our lives.

But what happens when you begin to see parts of yourself that were previously hidden? What if looking honestly at your own mind could lead to a broader perspective, deeper gratitude, and an unexpected sense of freedom?

In this post, two practitioners share their experiences of transformation through Level 2 of mind subtraction meditation. A 20-year-old describes how practicing the subtraction method helped him recognize previously unseen aspects of himself, reflect on his behavior, and experience what felt like an expansion of consciousness. Meanwhile, a 39-year-old practitioner shares how confronting uncomfortable aspects of herself gradually transformed into profound gratitude, emotional relief, and a newfound joy in meditation.

Read their inspiring stories to discover how self-reflection, letting go of mental pictures, and developing greater self-awareness can open the door to a clearer, more grateful way of living.

💬 Story 1: 🌌 “I Can See a Side of Myself I Could Never See, and My View of the Surroundings Seems to Open Up”

By Jung Jin-hong / Age 20 / Level 2

Without this method, one cannot subtract the human mind. If there were no Level 1 method, one wouldn’t even be able to look back on oneself. It is a method that helps people in the world living with a burden in their minds, and it gives me hope and gratitude knowing that I, too, can escape from that mind. I can see a side of myself that I could never see without the method, and I want to introduce it to others.

It is a method to live with the universe mind, and I made a resolution to discard the hopeless me and live with the universe mind.

“When I do this meditation, it feels like my view of my surroundings opens up. Should I say it feels like my consciousness suddenly broadens?”

I realized that I am a fake, and because I recklessly take pictures of my mind world and live in it, I can acknowledge that everything is my fault.

I even have a slight thought that I should have lived my human life a little kinder… I feel so apologetic and thankful.

💬 Story 2: 💧 “The Biggest Change I Experienced After Level 2”

By Choi Sun-hee / Age 39 / Level 2

Realizing how grateful I am for the things that didn’t deeply resonate with me even after Level 1 while doing Level 2 is probably the biggest change I experienced.

“I felt overwhelming gratitude to the point of tears for the method, and I also learned that this meditation is an enjoyable journey.”

Finding the terrible me is scary and unpleasant, but just as unpleasant as it feels, because that self is dead, non-existent, and just a picture, I was as happy with the refreshment after meditating as I was disgusted by the terrible me I felt.

In the end, the ultimate goal of the course was the disappearance of my illusory image, and I think I am leaving having achieved my goal.

Looking back on myself for a refreshing week. A change that anyone needs and would be happy to experience.

Even when I go to a local center for this meditation, since I’ve now found the true joy of this meditation, I will no longer be absent and will put this meditation as the top priority in my life.

Thank you. Thank you.

🌱 NEXT STEPS: Discover a New Perspective Through Self-Reflection

Have you ever felt trapped in the same thoughts, emotional reactions, or judgments about yourself and others? Perhaps you recognize certain habits but struggle to understand where they come from or how to change them.

Mind subtraction meditation offers a systematic approach to looking back on the mental pictures accumulated through past experiences and practicing the process of discarding them. Rather than simply trying to replace negative thoughts with positive ones, the method encourages deeper reflection on the mind that creates those thoughts.

As these two practitioners describe, self-reflection can sometimes be uncomfortable. Recognizing our own shortcomings or long-held beliefs may bring regret or difficult emotions. Yet their experiences also illustrate how that process can lead to greater understanding, gratitude, and a refreshing sense of inner freedom.

Whether you hope to understand yourself more deeply, release emotional burdens, or develop a broader perspective on life, the journey can begin by examining the mind through which you see the world.

Discover what becomes possible when you begin to see beyond your habitual thoughts and experience life with greater awareness and gratitude.
