“I’m not that funny of a person. So I’m afraid of being alienated among people.” ๐Ÿฅ€

There are people who are innately nervous and tense whenever they meet new people. These are the commonly referred to ‘introverted personalities’. Not knowing what to say to someone they meet for the first time, they often get tense. Actually, on the outside, introverted personalities look very calm. However, on the inside, they are often floundering under the pressure of thinking, “I have to say something.” ๐Ÿ’ญ

“I usually smile a lot, but I’m quiet and don’t talk much. I’m calm and mostly tend to listen.” “I find it burdensome when things get quiet when it’s just the two of us. I don’t know what to say.” ๐Ÿค

These days, many companies also tend to prefer extroverted people. In company dinners, the person who livens up the mood is loved. ๐ŸŽค Is it because of this social atmosphere? An introverted personality has become a complex that people want to hide, and there are many people who deliberately pretend to be active and outgoing.

๐Ÿงฒ The Charm of an Introverted Personality! Somehow, I’m Drawn to Them

There are many people who are innately introverted. It is said that about half of the world’s population are introverts. Being introverted means being inward-looking; that is, having a strong tendency for energy to be directed inward. ๐Ÿ”‹ Therefore, they are often perceived as quiet and untalkative. So, is this personality type disadvantageous when it comes to human relationships?

To start with the conclusion: not necessarily. Rather, it is even more charming. ๐ŸŒŸ

If you judge a person based on ‘whether they are extroverted or not,’ it is hard to see the charm of an introverted personality. However, if you look at it from the standard of ‘how they treat people,’ it is a personality with many strengths. It’s charming. It’s to the point where you would definitely want to be friends with someone like that.

For those introverted personalities who do not know their own charm, I have carefully selected the ‘4 Charms of an Introverted Personality.’ ๐ŸŽ

๐ŸŽง Charm 1. The Power of Listening โ€“ Truly hearing what the other person says

It is a well-known fact that the most important thing in communication with people is ‘listening.’ Listening is truly important. Nevertheless, ‘active listening’ seems to be quite a difficult task. When talking to someone, we rarely feel that they are truly listening to us.

You might think, what’s so hard about just listening? But if you think about everyday life, when a friend opens up and says, “This happened and I had a hard time,” haven’t you ever blurted out, “Yeah, but that was your fault in the first place,” or “How about you do this and this?” ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Or have you ever heard someone talk like that? You might have even complained, asking if they couldn’t just listen. That just shows how few people listen with genuine empathy.

Introverted people are strong at listening. ๐Ÿ‘‚ This is because a characteristic of an introverted personality is being stronger at listening than enjoying speaking. Looking at my acquaintances, this holds true. They don’t talk much, but I feel comfortable just being with them. And I find myself opening up and telling them everything. โ˜•

Of course, how well you can listen also depends on your own effort. However, if you can utilize your original disposition to develop the ability to genuinely empathize, it can become a huge charm. ๐Ÿ’–

๐ŸŒณ Charm 2. They are dependable and inspire trust

Introverted people have a style of starting carefully when making friends. Because they sometimes don’t react easily to what others say, they can fluster the other person, making them wonder, “Why aren’t they reacting?”

Just as they form relationships with people carefully and prudently, the bonds in their hearts are said to not break easily. Once a connection with someone is made, it might grow stronger, but it rarely breaks easily. ๐Ÿค

A few years ago, EBS Docuprime analyzed the relationship styles of introverted and extroverted high school seniors. Among the findings, the most interesting part was what the kids said were the ‘characteristics of introverted kids.’ ๐Ÿ“š

  • “There are times when I feel they think of me before themselves.”
  • “At first, it’s hard to get close, but once you do, you can understand each other deeply.”
  • “I feel like I can trust introverted kids a bit more.”
  • “If I have a worry, I think I’d tell these friends. I feel like they would protect it.”
  • “Even if introverted friends don’t contact you often, there’s just something there.”

Their reliability and reputation are very positive, aren’t they? In actual comparative research results, introverted children scored higher in the ‘trust’ category. ๐Ÿ†

If you search for ‘human relationships’ in the Q&A sections of famous portal sites, most of the worries are along the lines of, “I’m afraid people will hate me because of my introverted personality.” However, people actually have a favorable impression of introverted personalities. At first, the other person might be a bit flustered, but as time passes, giving a sense of trust like a steadfast tree can be called a major strength of an introverted personality. ๐ŸŒฒ

๐Ÿ” Charm 3. They focus on people

They possess the concentration to dig a deep well. They have the same ability to focus on people. Introverted personalities tend to think first before speaking or acting, and that tendency can be the source of their power to be considerate of others. ๐Ÿค”

How is that person feeling? What do they want? They have the power of thought to ponder and be considerate.

For example, they might think once more about how a friend is feeling or what they are interested in before acting. If they are a team leader guiding a team, they can meticulously catch what the team members’ interests are, what they are thinking, and what words they hate hearing. ๐Ÿ“‹

This ability shines even brighter when treating a precious person, like in a romantic relationship. They might hear “You’re fun to be with” less often, but they might hear, “I feel comfortable with you, so I want to keep being with you.” ๐Ÿ’‘

The CEO of a certain company hates standing in front of others so much that they have social phobia. Because it’s burdensome to even stand in front of the employees, they can’t even give a common New Year’s address. You might wonder, how can a company with dozens of employees run? But when you see the CEO meticulously taking care of each and every employee, it makes sense. Seeing them remember the names, faces, and even hobbies of new employees to give everyone perfectly tailored gifts shows how much affection and sincerity the CEO has for all the employees. ๐ŸŽ

Flashy eloquence is not a strict requirement for leadership. It is even less of a requirement for human relationships. Bill Gates and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg have also stated that they are introverts. ๐Ÿ’ป Ultimately, people do not form relationships based solely on outward appearances. They give their hearts to those who show interest or understand them well. An introverted personality has the power to take one step closer and focus on the other person in this way.

๐Ÿ’Ž Charm 4. They are genuine

Usually, introverted people worry that it’s frustrating because they ‘can’t speak well’. They say the words they want to say just hover in their heads but don’t come out of their mouths well. But talking a lot doesn’t mean you talk well.

Talking a lot doesn’t make you honest, either. Whether you talk a little or a lot, if you can just communicate the core of your thoughts well, the sincerity of your words will inevitably be delivered. ๐Ÿ’Œ

Among my acquaintances, there is someone who is a very taciturn type. They aren’t particularly active, nor do they smile much. Some people even describe them as ‘prickly’. But I find that person very cool. It’s not anything else that’s cool, but the way they excellently convey the core of what they want to say during meetings or conversations. ๐ŸŽฏ

They don’t talk much, but their words often hit right home. And when someone who doesn’t usually smile suddenly smiles brightly, I also feel, “That person has no pretense.” ๐Ÿ˜Š That person has become an icon of ‘sincerity’ among the people around them.

If you are worrying about your speaking style, rather than focusing on style or technique, how about cultivating the power to speak with ‘sincerity’? People intuitively know the sincerity contained in words. How much or how little you speak is not important. How honest you are is the point. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

So far, we have looked at the charms of an introverted personality, but the truth is, you cannot definitively say that any one personality is perfectly suited for human relationships.

Therefore, rather than trying to change your personality to be like others, wouldn’t it be necessary to check your own heartโ€”how are you treating people, and are you truly trying to treat them with sincerity? ๐Ÿ’š
