What Are Ghosts?
“Grandfathers and grandmothers, uncles and aunts,
young men and women, and little children alike,
have you ever seen a ghost?
For I have come to catch ghosts.”
Everyone asks me: “I’ve heard of ghosts but never seen one.
Do ghosts really exist?”
Ghost cannot be seen by human eyes
and humans cannot see ghosts.
“How can you catch something that cannot be seen?”
Ghosts are the hundreds of thousands of human minds.
Humans live with countless ghosts,
but they do not know this because they themselves are ghosts.
Ghost uses all sorts of disguises, therefore,
it is difficult to tell whether it is a ghost or a human.
Man has a mask of a human, but he is a ghost that hates,
a ghost that likes,
a ghost that drinks,
a ghost that is crazy,
a ghost that loves,
a ghost of his enemies,
a ghost that pretends to know,
a ghost that pretends to be excellent and superior,
a pretentious ghost,
a ghost that pretends to be soft-spoken and kind,
a ghost that thinks it is good-looking,
a ghost that thinks it is ugly,
a ghost that pretends to be dignified,
and a ghost that pretends to be intelligent.
Wearing tens of thousands of kinds of disguises,
the ghost ultimately lives only for itself.
While ghosts cannot see ghosts,
a righteous person, a true person, can easily see ghosts.
Also, there are people in the world who are able to catch ghosts.
Ghosts do not want to die,
and they run away after insulting the true person,
saying that they are the best, that they are right.
But a true person can see that they act like ghosts
because they are blinded by their ghosts;
he can see right through the ghosts’ disguise.
Do not remain as a ghost;
when you become God, you can go to the eternal, living heaven,
and you will know the ways of the world.
If you stay as a ghost, you will die forever,
and live in hell, in a world that does not exist;
you do not have the forever-living heaven and wisdom within you,
thus, you cannot understand Truth, nor can you see Truth.
Your mind changes day and night
because the ghost wears tens of thousands of kinds of disguises.
Eventually the true person who can catch the ghost
ends up saying the same thing over and over again
to the ghost which changes constantly, day and night.
But if the true person
can manage to keep the ghost from running away,
he will one day be able to catch the ghost.
The ghost knows that its ghostly life is horrible
and also knows that a ghost is not perfect.
But still the ghost whimsically goes back and forth,
for it is indeed a ghost.
This is something that even the ghost catcher cannot help.
For he has no choice but to praise the ghost
and please the ghost; because he knows that this is the only way
the ghost will not run away.
Thus, the person who can please the ghost best
is the one who is the best ghost catcher.
Let us drive away the ghost and live forever without death,
in the world of the divine, with the divine.
When you are not stubborn and listen to what the divine person says,
the ghost can be caught and you can live with the divine.
