📖 Introduction
Searching for a job for a long time can slowly drain a person’s confidence, motivation, energy, and sense of purpose.
Feelings of frustration, comparison, disappointment, and uncertainty can easily turn daily life into a cycle of lethargy and hopelessness.
This meditation testimonial shares the inspiring story of Il Kwon K., who struggled through long periods of unsuccessful job searching and gradually lost both motivation and direction in life.
Although he once avoided difficult work and constantly searched for easier paths, meditation helped him reflect deeply on his habits, mindset, pride, and unrealistic expectations.
As he learned to let go of those thoughts and sincerely focus on the work placed before him, his attitude, perseverance, and daily life slowly began changing.
This heartfelt meditation testimonial beautifully shows how true confidence, growth, and happiness can emerge when we stop running away from challenges and instead give our best to the present moment.
💬 Meditation Testimonial: “From a Hopeless Job-Seeker to a Happy Working Professional”
By Il Kwon K. | Office Worker
People often say that when someone becomes a long-term job seeker, they eventually lose all sense of time.
That was exactly how I was living.
My life had become completely lethargic and directionless, and honestly, it was not easy to suddenly transform myself into an energetic and motivated person overnight.
Then one day, through an acquaintance, I was introduced to a job at an online shopping company.
Honestly, in the past, it was the kind of company I would never even have considered applying to.
The company needed someone to organize the warehouse for three months, and afterward there might possibly be an opportunity to transfer to the headquarters office.
I responded:
“I’m already grateful just for the opportunity to work.
I’ll give it a try.”
And so, every day, I began commuting from Seoul to Yongin.
Even I was surprised by myself.
🌱 I Wanted to Look Like the Main Character in a Drama
Back in college, whenever I worked part-time jobs, I could never stay anywhere for very long.
I constantly searched for easier work and quickly moved from one job to another.
So the fact that I was now willing to begin from the very bottom was itself a huge change.
And honestly, I could not deny that this change became possible because of meditation.
As I reflected on myself, I realized something important:
Just like characters in television dramas, I wanted a job that looked impressive to others while still being easy and comfortable.
I saw how much I depended on appearances and how unrealistically high my expectations were compared to my actual abilities.
But once I actually started working, I realized reality was far more difficult than I expected.
What I thought would simply be warehouse organization quickly became customer service, product deliveries, and countless other responsibilities all at once.
Most nights, I did not leave work until 11 PM.
Sometimes I stayed until 1 AM.
My personal life practically disappeared.
I barely slept.
After about one month, I seriously wondered whether I should continue.
People around me told me to find another job.
And even after three months passed, there was still no possibility of transferring to the headquarters office in Seoul.
🌿 Happiness Comes When You Give Your Best
While continuing meditation, I carefully reflected on myself.
I looked deeply at my old habits — the version of myself that always quit whenever things became difficult.
And I continued discarding those minds again and again.
Eventually, I came to one conclusion:
“For once, let’s endure this until the very end.”
I genuinely wanted to keep the promise I had made.
Then, after about seven months, I was finally transferred to the headquarters office.
At a company dinner, the CEO said something I still remember clearly:
“You never know when a person’s mind might change.
That’s why people should start from the bottom.”
He continued:
“Most young people quit easily when work becomes difficult, but I appreciated seeing you work even harder instead.”
Honestly, I had simply wanted to keep my promise.
I believed that nothing in this world comes without sincere effort, so I worked with all my strength.
But the result became even better than I expected.
Through that experience, I realized something important:
Work is not something simply given to us.
It is something we create ourselves.
I also realized that true happiness comes from sincerely giving your best to the work placed before you.
Now, more than anything else, I feel grateful that my days are busy, meaningful, and enjoyable.
