โจ Introduction
โจ In this insightful reflection, Master Woo Myung journeys across America, observing its cities, history, and the flow of human life.
๐ From New York to Los Angeles, from Boston to San Francisco, each place holds its own stories, transformations, and traces of time.
๐ฟ Yet beyond all these changing landscapes, one truth remains: human history and experiences are constantly shifting, while the deeper reality quietly flows beneath it all.
๐ Through this travel narrative, Master Woo Myung invites us to see beyond external appearances and recognize the unchanging Truth behind the movement of life.

America
People called America a great frontier,
but the land had already been inhabited by its native people.
Dallas, Texas is where
the infamous Oswald is known to have
assassinated President John F. Kennedy.
The city of Houston
is named after
General Houston who defeated the Mexican forces.
A great amount of petroleum was once produced here,
but production has reduced.
And so many Koreans have left this city.
On the southern route heading northeast,
there is Atlanta.
In Atlanta, there is
the grave of Reverend Martin Luther King,
Stone Mountain upon which there is a carving of confederate
troops during the Civil War,
not to mention the headquarters of Coca-Cola and CNN.
Washington D.C. is the current capital of the United States,
while Philadelphia was the first.
New York is the worldโs biggest commercial city.
Only the Hudson River flows silently without a word,
while the century-old Washington Bridge and
several other bridges connect Manhattan.
Then there is the Empire State Building,
which was built in about a year nearly a hundred years ago.
Boston has many schools.
The British came here during the early colonial period.
The early immigrants lived with the natives.
As one strolls along the Charles River,
one will find that it alone flows calmly.
As one crosses the Hudson from New York,
there is New Jersey.
From the first capital, Philadelphia, on the way to Chicago
there is the place where farmers from the east have migrated to.
Chicago is poised on a large lake.
There it has the tallest building in the U.S.
Many people live in that city.
It was once the second largest city in the U.S.,
but now that title goes to Los Angeles.
From Chicago on the way to Denver,
there are the Great Plains of Nebraska,
and they are great indeed.
Denver is located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
Thus there are many mountain roads from Denver to Seattle.
After driving three days and two nights, one arrives in Seattle.
It rains in Seattle during winter;
Vancouver, Canada, is the same.
San Jose is one full-nightโs journey by car from Seattle.
It is close to San Francisco.
San Francisco is one of the worldโs most beautiful port cities.
It takes eight hours to get to Los Angeles.
The largest population of Koreans lives in Los Angeles.
Near Los Angeles is Orange County,
and like Los Angeles, it is a nice place to live.
From Los Angeles to Hawaii,
it takes six hours by plane.
Beginning in 2002, and within a year,
I had travelled three and a half round trips
across America to these cities.

๐ฟ Reflect at Santa Clara Meditation
At Santa Clara Meditation, this teaching is reflected in everyday life.
๐ Cities rise and change,
โจ people come and go,
๐ฟ history continues to unfold.
But beyond all movement,
๐ there is a Truth that simply exists and flows.
Through meditation, one can discover that unchanging reality beyond all stories and places.
