Why can’t people see God, even if they believe in Him?
According to Master Woo Myung, it is because God is Light, and man—full of delusions—has never been to the land of Light.
🔆 The Light of God is not something the material mind can perceive.
The idea that “one dies upon seeing God” means that one’s false self dies, and only the existence of Truth remains—reborn as the child of God, as Light itself.

The True Meaning of Not Being Able to See God Because He Is Light
Long ago, before I knew anything about Truth, a Christian told me that people cannot see God because God is Light and therefore too dazzling for human eyes. He also said that those who look upon the face of God will die.
I then asked him what use it was to die if we believe in God in order to see God, but he could not answer.
God is Truth that is the great Soul and Spirit of the Universe. God does not exist in man; man has only delusions inside him, which is why he cannot see God.
The reason people are not able to see God who is Light, or the reason the life of Truth is invisible to people, is they have never been to the land of Light. We can only really know Hawaii when we have been there, and in the same way, we must have been to the land of Light in order to see the land of Light.
Man cannot see the Energy and Light that is the great Soul and Spirit of the Universe because he lives a life that is focused on material things.
It is possible to see this Energy and Light when one has died. The land beyond one’s death is the land of Light and it is Light itself.
When it is said that one will die if he looks upon God, it means that when one sees God that is Light, his self dies and only God remains. He then becomes God and is reborn as the child of God. Only a person who has become that Light itself can see the Light, and only a person who has died and has been born in the land of Light can see God that is Light.
Man is unable to see the Light; only a child of God – a person who has died and become the Light – can see the Light.
In the land of Light, the one God exists amidst absolute emptiness. This one God just exists everywhere. All creations in the world and the emptiness are the Universe’s Soul and Spirit. They are Energy and Light and just oneness itself. A person who has been reborn as such, a person who has this existence within him, can see the Light and he has become the Light. Truth is this existence itself.
