INTRODUCTION

โœจ In this beautiful explanation, Master Woo Myung clarifies the true meaning of Gesong (ๅˆ้ Œ) โ€” a written expression of enlightenment. A gesong is not merely poetry or philosophy; it is the voice of realization โ€” words that arise directly from the heart of Truth. ๐ŸŒฟ

When enlightenment is genuine, it naturally manifests as gesong โ€” simple, clear, and alive with the mind of the Universe. Such writings convey the depth of awakening beyond intellect, touching the readerโ€™s soul and revealing the place of the writerโ€™s mind.

True gesong is not written with the knowledge of the head but with the living awareness of the heart. The most perfect gesong is one that can be understood by all and gives enlightenment to those who read it. ๐ŸŒŒ

ORIGINAL WRITING BY MASTER WOO MYUNG

What Is Gesong?

Gesong is a written expression of oneโ€™s enlightenment. Gesong resides in the enlightenment, and the enlightenment resides in the gesong.

One can know by reading gesong whether or not the writer has been enlightened, because gesong is a writing from the heart. Only when it is written from the heart is it a true gesong; it cannot be called that when it is written from the knowledge of oneโ€™s head. It is possible to know the place of a personโ€™s mind through his gesong, but usually it does not give enlightenment to ordinary people because people find them difficult to understand. The best or most well-written words are those that people can easily understand, therefore the best gesong is one that everyone can understand and gain enlightenment from.

REFLECT AT SANTA CLARA MEDITATION

๐ŸŒ  At Santa Clara Meditation, practitioners awaken through direct experience, not theory โ€” and such realization often blossoms into words that flow naturally from the enlightened heart. This is Gesong โ€” living expression born from the stillness of Truth.

Every person has the potential to write their own gesong โ€” not with intellect, but with the clarity of enlightenment. ๐ŸŒฟ
