πŸ”Ž Introduction

✨ In this striking teaching, Master Woo Myung reveals that the devil is not an external being, but the false minds within oneself.

Hatred, attachment, pride, superiority, pretence β€” all arise from the delusional mind. 🌫️ When a person acts from these minds, he becomes the β€œdevil” of that emotion.

Yet there is something that the devil fears most: sincere repentance β€” the words, β€œI have done wrong.” These words dissolve the false self and allow only Truth to remain.

What Frightens the Devil Most

The devil is
the copious number of false minds
within oneself.

The devil stays in the mind
and comes forth at every opportune moment.

Humans speak and act with that devil mind.

For example,
if there is someone you hate,
the mind of hatred comes forth when you meet that person;
you become the devil of hatred.

If there is someone you love,
the mind of love comes forth when you meet that person;
you become the devil of love.

Pretending to know,
pretending to be something one is not,
pretending that it is so,
pretending to be superior,
pretending to be benign,
pretending to be good,
pretending to be kind,
pretending to be inferior,
pretending that it is not so,
pretending to be gentle,
pretending to be polite,
pretending to be scared,
pretending to be dignified,
pretending to be intelligent;

to pretend is the false mind, and that false mind is the devil.

When you do not have pretence in the mind,
you live well.
When you do not have the devil of pretence,
you are Truth, and you live well.

What frightens the devil most
are the words, β€˜I have done wrong’ and β€˜thank you.’

People live thinking they have done no wrong,
but the person who did the most wrong in the world
is one’s own self, the devil.

β€˜Wrongdoing’ from Truth’s point of view
is to not become Truth.

The phrase, β€˜I have done wrong,’ means β€˜I am sorry
because I did not enshrine Truth within my mind.’

That man has not enshrined Truth
is his wrongdoing.

When you say, β€˜I’m sorry; I have done wrong,’
only Truth, the kingdom of Truth, exists.
Therefore, the devil is expelled; it flees.

Only the mind of God can say, β€˜I’m sorry; I have done wrong.’

When you think, β€˜I am right,’
then it is your self-righteous devil which has come forth.

When you say, β€˜I’m sorry; I have done wrong,’
the devil dies because there is only Truth.

🌿 Reflect at Santa Clara Meditation

At Santa Clara Meditation, practitioners learn that the greatest obstacle is not external evil, but the false self-righteous mind. 🌠

When one clings to being right, the devil of pride grows stronger. But when one sincerely repents and says, β€œI have done wrong,” the false mind dissolves.

Repentance is not weakness β€” it is the moment when Truth alone remains.

The devil fears humility because humility allows the Kingdom of Truth to exist.
