π INTRODUCTION
β¨ In this insightful teaching, Master Woo Myung examines the philosophy of the Roman thinker Plotinus and clarifies why his concept of the transcendent One and emanations does not align with the living Truth. πΏ
He explains that although Plotinus tried to describe the origin of all things, he was only guessing from the human mind, and that good and evil are not inherent qualities of existence, but concepts created by man. π
This message reveals that Truth is beyond human speculation and that only by becoming Truth itself can one know the real origin of all things. π
π ORIGINAL WRITING BY MASTER WOO MYUNG
The Roman philosopher Plotinus, who was one of the founders of religious philosophy, asserted the following: all things originate from the perfect virtue of the transcendent and absolute One. Although we can accept the One we can never fully understand it because it is beyond our conceptions. It is from this One that all things appeared like the emanation of light and all things are created and derived from this existence of One. The One is a transcendent existence so everything about it must be inferred from its derivatives. The first emanation is reason, logic, and thought and the second emanation is the soul, following which is the human body. Therefore, if our souls aspire towards reason and thought, it will ascend as goodness and as light. However if our souls choose the physical body and material possessions, it will descend into evil and darkness. Is his assertion correct?
When Plotinus said that all things are the One, he was merely guessing. This is because the One is neither good nor evil, but came from perfection that is the origin of all creations. It is called the One because there is only one such perfection.
It is also wrong to believe that when peopleβs souls aspire towards reason and thought they will become goodness and light, and that they will descend into evil and darkness if they choose the physical body and material possessions. This is because these things have no relation to evil and darkness or to goodness and light. Originally, there is no good or evil in man; good and evil was something that man made by himself. Therefore, his theory is incorrect. Man himself decides what is good and evil and acts accordingly; good and evil do not originally exist.

π REFLECT AT SANTA CLARA MEDITATION
At Santa Clara Meditation, practitioners are guided to go beyond philosophical speculation and to experience the origin of Truth directly. πΏ Through reflection and practice, they come to understand why good and evil are not inherent realities, as taught by Master Woo Myung.
