INTRODUCTION

✨ In this teaching, Master Woo Myung explains the real meaning of gae-byuk (ι–‹ι—’)β€”the universal reopening or new beginning that many Korean elders spoke about. Contrary to old beliefs that gae-byuk meant a physical upheaval of the universe, the true gae-byuk occurs when Truth appears, and all creation is reborn as Truth within the mind of man.
This new age is the time when Heaven, man, and earth become one within the human mind, and people recover the true Body (Jung) and Mind (Shin) of the Universe. 🌿

New Beginning

Growing up, I often heard adults say
the world would someday experience a β€˜gae-byuk (ι–‹ι—’),’
or in other words, a new beginning.
They said that there would be
a great convulsion of the universe,
and I, too, grew up thinking that
this was how the gae-byuk would come about.
If there were a child
who could not sit still and was peculiar in his manner,
adults would call him
a β€˜gae-byuk-jang-ee (one who brings about the gae-byuk)’
Together, the characters β€˜gae’ and β€˜byuk’ mean β€˜to be reopened.’
Thus a β€˜universal gae-byuk’ is one in which
the universe will reopen,
or in other words, will begin again.
This does not mean the universe will turn upside down
but that the whole of creation will be reborn as Truth
when Truth appears.
The whole of this universe will be in man’s mind,
and thus gae-byuk will have taken place.
What was once an age in which
Heaven, man, and earth were separate
is now an age in which
Heaven, man, and earth are in man.
Now is the age man must recover
the β€˜Jung (Body)’ and β€˜Shin (Mind).’
The age has come in which one may have in him
the infinite Heaven and earthβ€”
the Soul and Spirit of the Universe;
this is the age of universal gae-byuk.
The age in which people may attain
Heaven, man, and earth
is the age in which they can become saints.
Furthermore, this earth, here, would be
the Buddha-ksetra, Heaven,
as well as the world of Truth.
It would be an age in which man’s consciousness is perfect,
and he would thus know that life and death are one;
an age in which everyone would thus live as one.
The perfect world
in which the Mind and Body are reestablished will come.
