💡 INTRODUCTION

What does true indifference mean?
In this poetic reflection, Master Woo Myung contrasts everyday apathy with the deeper spiritual state of indifference in Truth.

🌿 Ordinary “indifference” often comes from a lack of interest or care—an apathetic mind.
But true indifference is different: it is the state where one has no self-centered mind at all, standing firmly in Truth.

📜 Through vivid imagery of wives longing for their husbands who have gone to Hanyang, this writing reveals that spiritual indifference is not coldness, but freedom from the false self.

📝 ORIGINAL WRITING BY MASTER WOO MYUNG

Indifference

Pitiful womenfolk sigh,
thinking of their indifferent husbands
who left for Hanyang.

Indifference is to be without minds,
but their husbands are not indifferent,
just apathetic –
their minds lack interest.

True indifference –
when there is none of one’s own mind –
is to stand firmly in Truth.
